Customs Color photos of '63-'65 Rivieras

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Richard D, Nov 30, 2009.

  1. I am ready to paint my '65, I'd like to see some good color photos, with paint codes if possible, to help me pick a color. Going for a very mild custom, keeping most of the trim, except antennae and door handles. It is real low and will probably have Supremes or chrome reverse, with thin whitewall. The black interior will probably match anything.

If it was me, I would go gold. I know you said mild kustom, but I can almost see a gold with a subtle tint change for the roof. Your 65 is killer already. You Texas guys are NUTS. Good times. Slim

Hard to beat one of those in lime gold like Jimmie Vaughn's. I think that, or straight gold or bronze.

I want one. Do you have a spare?

I'd have to go with black. But then again I'm partial.

Wow - that's exactly what a Buick should look like. Nice.

My old Riviera. Different colours at different times of the day.

Did you just post that to torture me?

  18. The dark (Midnight?) blue in second pic is interesting. The Bellflowers in the top photo are a possibility as well...

Richard...that car needs a heavy flaked gold. It's begging for it. That or a heavy bass boat blue flake. There's already a maroon one running around these parts. :D

  20. I know! But Wyatt's car looks so badass(where I got the idea), and I've only seen it once; It's not like we'll be next to each other at random stoplights. But Blue or gold, with serious flake, are definitely up there. I need to see more pics before I decide.

  21. No more color photos?

I'm thinking a bronze metallic job. Glad to hear you're at the paint stage, Rich. I'm sure whatever color you decide will be awesome.

I'm a new guy around here, and my tastes run somewhat more subtle than those of some, but to me, THIS is where it's at for that car. And there are NOT that many cars out there that can pull off the gold tones, either...

This is mine, but I do agree gold is nice. I saw a 1960 Cadi in Aztec gold once, and it was unbelievebly fine!

  26. Damn, these all look so good. Never thought I'd be so stoked about blue, but the blues look great. Bronze is interesting as well, Fred. This is going to be a very difficult choice. Please, keep 'em coming. We have yet to start bodywork, so I have plenty of time.

took this pic @ Santa Maria. Pic does not do the car justice. Guy that owns it was pretty cool people too.
