Since I can't walk down to my local junkyard and get a 32 frame for a model A project, what's a guy to do? From the aftermarket they come in 2 prices: Expensive and Real Expensive. I can't exactly build one at home, maybe a model A frame, but I do like that stupid reveal.

    How did you get yours?

I looked, begged, threatened, searched for a original frame. They come two ways,
    1. Beat up, chopped up, two pieces, bent, twisted and welds out the ***. CHEAP
    2. Anything decent. If its out there it's made of gold. High priced. One guy priced an original for $5000.00 I said screw it and ordered a Pete and Jake's ch***is.

Actually Duggie you got Eric's info. backwards, but we know what you meant ;)

If you can't afford deuce rails, build your own out of 2x3 steel and channel the car. Unless you got a lot of parts already, or a line on them cheaply, the rails won't be the cheapest part of your build. Hope you've thought about a budget 'cause it might be a long process otherwise.

Some guys have built up frames with rectangle tubing and put American Stamping horns up front (they sell them seperately). Would look OK on a lowboy....Thats what I plan to do. Not a very "real" look with no reaveal and such and but it's your car and frame prices are high as hell so what do ya do, man?

Thanks dug..wasn't you "just dug" ...anyway...

Hey a set of new 32 rails run in the $700.00 range.
I would think someone in NorCal would have them in stock..cuz there is shipping.

But honestly if your building a car..it won't be the first or the last grand you spend.
Sometimes you can be way ahead paying for what you want but can't do yourself,
and make up the savings doing what you're good at.
    Does that make sense?
(ie, not all good painters can build a race engine)

x2 on the Kiwi frame! I have one in my shop right now and it's a work of art at a really fair price. And if you and an alliance member the price is even better.

I just went out to the shop and there were 3 or 4 just lying around :D
Junk ... just in the way

But seriously, they are out there. You just have to look and chase down every lead. Can take a while. :(
A original frame will bring GOOD $$$ unless you just get lucky. The Model A will not be a original car anyway with a 32 frame under it ... and a original 1932 Ford frame needs to be modified a fair amount ... to mount a Model A ... so I would just save up my $$$ and BUY ONE already narrowed and flattened to fit a Model A body.

Less heart ache and more cost effective in the long run IMHO
    Also a lot quicker ...

Never said I wouldn't like to be able to buy one. Working on a shoestring budget. Trying to gather all my pieces at the moment. That home-built frame was amazing. I could do it, but it would take me 30 years. ***embling an engine, transmission, wiring a car, small fab is all easy enough for me. A big project like that frame would never get enough time to get done with 4 kids at home. To buy one for $1800 is more reasonable than I've seen, but still currently out of reach. Time to keep saving my pennies and scouring the swapmeets.

I agree with Dirty Dug. I bought my rails from Riley and put it togethor in my garage. Actually went pretty smooth.

  17. Give these people a call...also known as "Fast Time Rods". I bought my frame from them and it came boxed with every original hole where it should be. I have never seen such welding quality ...every weld looks like it was done by a machine! I can't say enough good things about the quality. $1,995...

I went through this process 3 years ago..............love the 32 reveal, but didn't want to spend $3k to get the look..............so I built my "A" frame. Bought Daggel Street Rods X member, boxing plates and brake setup for $550 and started to build.
These guys put out a nice frame that doesn't break the bank, although you said that $1800 was not in the books currently

Or you could....................1. You could save up and buy one, 2. Buy a set of rails from them, 3. Build a Model A frame and and if you like the 32 reveal, make a reveal that would slip over the original A frame and look like a 32 frame.......................personally.............I would buy the rails and make my own frame.

  19. If you ever find the coin try to use a local source. Someone that you can drive to and pickup yourself. Frames are expensive to ship. I got a very good deal from Gary Maxwell at Blackboard Hot Rods in Bakersfield. http://www.blackboardhr.com/
