I was aiming for disinformation. But really it's ok to say you don't like something and prefer something else. Even if it wasn't made in the USA. Feel free to be outraged at this point.

    Hi Gang..

There were 4 cars done in this style in the 1940's (from what Rik and I can tell in our research). The first one was done by Frank Kurtis for a guy named "Hughes".

Attached is a short piece by Gordon White in 2001 concerning the history of this car, and it was built in 1940-1941, from what I can tell.

Here's a link in Hemmings published recently about the car with some maodern pictures:

    Hope this helps..

Neat thread, LOVE the car. Thanks to all that added to it. I would love to see more threads like this on the HAMB regarding the coachbuilt early customs.....hint, hint Geoff.;)

    Hey Denise...

    I hear you :)

Maybe Ryan would like to feature the early Coachbuilt Customs 1 at a time....I've found about 7 of them from 1947 thru 1951/2. Would be fun to see a bit about each of the cars.

There's some other cars I have found history on that the folks from JJ would enjoy.

Will do...I'll see if we can do one next week.

    Best..

When you see cars reach that level of fame and a 350K price tag, that sir is clone time, then bring the car out so people can get up close and enjoy them. Museums serve a purpose for lookers, but those cars are roped off. If you have the talent, patience and money then clone a famous car so you can feel what it was like to have a car like that. I own the John Ballard Polynesian11 and want to take it to places and have people sit in it have their picture taken and feel what Jack Stewart felt like sitting their behind the wheel, now that is cool and life is to short. People are still dancing to oldies and having fun. I lucked out and found this car and every time I see it or take it to shows, I smile all day and forget about everything else.

Wow-talk about nailing the lines and proportions. This is one of those cars that you find yourself just sitting and stairring at. I'm sure you guys have done the same thing-certain cars just have the right lines, and you find yourself sitting in complete stillness just stairring at the car. What a beautiful example of human craftmanship. Thanks for the thread

Sign me up for a copy or two of the Coach Craft Book, or a few more if that is what it takes.
