Of Course You Like Old Cars....What About Old Toys?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 64Cyclone, Aug 30, 2009.

  1. Tootsiey Toys! Got over 200 of them. The wife like antique shops so I had to start collecting something. Have some windup toys too. I'll get some pics.

Have fun! It took me almost 2 years hunting for mine on the 'bay. I wanted the nicest ones I could find. I just need to get a nicer Rat-A-Tat-Tat, mine doesn't have the decals.

That's a cool group of car carriers in your collection. I don't recall ever seeing any of those when I was a kid.

  3. I'v seen a lot of things on here that I used to have, but I was a bad kid and destroyed all my Tonkas and Hot Wheels. Although I still have my Hot Wheels waste basket, Mom got me that for my birthday in '70. :D

I like to buy these guys too whenever I find one.

A customer dropped this wrecker off for me to restore. Does anyone have any sources for the chrome parts or decals. any other tips will be appreciated.

The line between toys and old cars is very fuzzy around my house.

And I got two of these.

They have to be big enough for an adult to ride in. And they have to be electric or Gas powered not pedal

  9. Here's a few of mine. There's more. If I ever get my addition built one of the things I have planned for it is a large 4 lane 1/32 scale racetrack made with 60s Revelle track. I have the track but no place to set it up at the moment. I had that same Cox BRM as well as the Chaparral when I was a kid.

I just got my Taxi and Rat A Tat Tat.....sorry there appears to be cat hair on the Rat, I haven't wiped it off yet. Maybe you can print this till something better comes along...this one is mint other than the dust and cat hair. It appears the decal is on the drivers side only.

Here's the last 2 I got and I just found a Rumble Bee and a Mod Rod.

My junk from the '60s. The DB5 is pretty much a basket case with Mr. Bond and the villian looong gone. The Nam era button just happened to be in the same box.

Man I am stuck on Nylint. Can't get too many toys or hot rods. Also have a few pin stripped panels. Oh yeah Gator stripped my air compressor tank. Too cool.

Have you Googled "Tonka repro decals" or something like that? I know that restoring Tonka's is a big business and that all of the decals are pretty much available.

back in the 90's i was heavy into hotwheel collecting but sold my 3000 car collection to one guy and just kept the woodies and a few surf related items. I decided my heart was into woodies and surf related toys and began building a new woodie collection

A vast majority of my stuff is stored away until my garage is complete but here are a few shots of what I have currently on display in my display cabinet. current collection ranges from vintage 1930's items to current.

  25. That looks like a rubber mold car made by Auburn- try googling "Auburn" and "Rubber Mold", you might get a hit.

Not a collection but ones I managed to save from childhood. This is one I am trying to get some information on. Haven't seen another except for the one m cousin got at the sme time. His father worked for the A and P market warehouse, and gave us these for Christmas in about 53 or 54. My cousin had destroyed his in about a month.

Anybody else have or seen one??

I've got a couple of Arcade toys from the '30's- an old open race car and a Fordson tractor, both cast iron along with some 50's Tonka trucks.
A bunch of 1/25 scale model unbuilt car kits and a bunch of other stuff I've
no place to display. Every bit as neat as the real stuff.

That's around a 1950 Tonka Green Giant refridgerated semi. Very rare and worth a few hundert dollars.

64cyclone, is that are Redline Proline (chrome one) with the red wheels. I had one and it was by far the best bike I ever had. Had tuffwheels originally then switched to red anodized rims with red tires like you show..
