Year nearly over- what did YOU buy/save this year??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Dec 4, 2009.

  1. I have done this same thread for the past 2 years, so lets keep it going this year!! With 2009 coming to a close, lets see what cars/trucks you bought and saved this year! Either projects, done cars or parts cars...lets see what 2009 brought you!!

    Heres mine.

I started early this year with this 29 roadster body in Febuary and turned it into a running driving car by May

Got this F-1 pickup to flip.

Also bought a 1946 Ford 1/2 ton pickup, and ended up buying quite a few more 42-47 trucks for parts. The last pic is a 1946 2 ton which I'm going to keep and fix up (someday)

[IMG]This year's save for me: 1950 F6 future tow rig.

  3. I did get much closer on my AV8 project this year and got a lot of solid work done, however did not buy and sell a lot of parts. Highlights of my year include;

Nice Thickstun PM7 thanks to the HAMB.

Nice working Electroline tail light for pretty much free thanks to someone else digging it out of a DEEP box at a swap meet and then putting down while I waited like a shark and watched in disbelief.

Good running 59A flathead thanks to craigslist.

Finished up my first HAMB vappropriate vehicle after having it for about 4 years. What can I say? I'm lazy. Most of the motivation and help came from the Sock F*ckers and the GA HAMBers. Other than that, I scored a set of 58 del ray tail lights, a chain steering wheel, and some cal custom 40-40's for my next project. Now I just have to hit the lotto so I can buy a Model A or a 32 Ford.

I realize I'm blocking most of the truck, but it's the first pic I had handy.

Saved from the junkyard, and stronger than ever! All it needed was a little paint. :)

  7. Against my better judgement I bought a rough '64-ish F350 crewcab. I say that because consensus of the "slick 60's" guys is it's not even worth what it will bring over the scales at the scrapyard.

That's about the only old car I've bought this year, though. I did swap off a '49 Ford and ended up with a '76 Trans Am (don't know who got screwed worse there), sold the A pickup I put together out of parts; and sold the '40 Nash.

  8. Here`s my 35 Ford pk up, purchased from a great guy in California in March 09 started rebuild May 09, Ive fitted 283 SBC 350 Turbo, TCI mustang front supension, Parallel rear springs, just fitted the SS exhaust, the trucks coming together pretty good. Im retired & its good to look forward to every day. I would like to thank the guy`s on this H.A.M.B.Site for helping an old Limey Hot Rodder..........Cheer`s Bri

I bought this just recently... First early Ford for me (all others were 60's cars). Also first project of this size for me so a little nervous about what I need to do. But I have been asking lots of questions here and getting tons of great answers.

More pics in other posts I have started.

I got no pics yet cuz they ain't here. I scored a complete 47 Packard CUstom Super Clipper and put a deposit on a 34 1101 Packard as well. If parts count I also scored huge (I think) at Billetproof, a 63 Riviera tilt column for the truck. The fluted cover is near perfect and I'm almost ashamed of what little $$$ I paid. Also scooped up a late 60s early 70s Lil Indian mini-bike.

  11. I bought all of these to part out.I did sell a 64 Galaxie fastback for $1,000.00 and that paid for a bunch that I bought as a package deal.

Bone stock 31 model a coupe, towed it home from California. A gennie 32 grill shell and insert bought from a cell phone picture. I had it shipped to the house and it is still in the box unopened waiting for me to get back in town next week and check it out? The suspense is weather it is as good as the seller claimed or not. May be merry christmas to me, or a profound oh shit! MickeyC.

Saved 2 finned whales this year.
Will still need to bring back the chrome on the purple whale while I'll also have to bring back the shape in the smaller Plymouth-whale...

This is as far as I'm going with it for the time being as I need to get my Essex fixed up first. My plan for the T is a basic 40's style jalopy...fenderless, sitting on a mostly stock, slightly lowered "A" chassis with a hopped-up "A" drivetrain and juice brakes.

  27. Good for you. Not foolish at all.I sold some cars i had had for decades so we could pay cash for our home . best thing I ever did. OldWolf

I bought a lot of Temodar and am cancer-free YAY!
Was given an '86 Nissan pickup, sold it for a grand.
Didn't really buy or save anything else this year, got my old Chevy pickup on the road after sitting for 5 years.
Bought an old house in a nice area of Tucson. Corner of Grand and Ternero. Guess I got a 1958 Gran Torino?
