I saw a story on his track on Horsepower TV a few years back. I'm sad to hear about his passing.

More track owners needed just like him.
Will the track continue to operate?

  12. My respects and prayers to his family and friends,I also heard about him thru HP TV,we need more guys like him,NHRA coulda learned much from a stand up guy like him..god speed Ray

  13. So sorry to hear about this.
George was car guy like no other.

  14. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I've talked to a couple guys who've raced there and they said that everyone loved the guy and he loved racers. There have been a few good magazine articles on him over the years; but I can't remember what magazines they were in. Google George Rays Dragstrip if you want to learn more about him.

So many pioneers in Auto Racing have passed the last year, can you just imagine the "bench racin'" going on within those Pearly Gates ? R.I.P. George ! I would hope H.P. TV does a commercial free tribute show to honor Him,and the family keeps up the tradition He founded.

I'm so sorry to hear about George Ray passing, I to had seen the piece on HP TV on the track and look forwared to seeing it each time it was rerun. You could tell George
Really loved the sport and the fellowship with other Racers, you get that kinda of feeling from people that want to make friends and just race,
He didnt seem to care about making big money like most of the tracks and race car parts vendors do now.
so I would say he was one of a Kind. RIP George and thank you for everything.

  24. Man, I hate to hear that. I grew up in the area and made a few passes down the track in about '64. I think I have a "George Rays Wildcat dragstrip" t shirt somewhere.
