One of my Wisconsin friends Mark aka Wingnutz sold his big block Olds powered Model A roadster to my new friend Mike aka BCR in western Kansas. We were able to set up a Hamb relay to get this car to it's new home cheaply (for gas money) because my pal Bob aka bobwop from Wisconsin was coming to Kansas City Missouri this weekend to attend the Me*** collector car auction. My best friend **** aka cuzzindeke and I met Bob and his lovely girlfriend Carla at the auction downtown KC yesterday and had a ball watching the cars sell. Several brought over $100K and that was fun to see. Very few bargains (if any) were to be found. Anyway, late last night after the auction we unloaded the car from Bob's nice enclosed trailer to my old open car hauler. Now this super fun roadster is resting comfortably inside at Poverty Flats awaiting the new owner's arrival. Have always admired this car and have seen it before. This is likely the only time you will ever see it on a trailer----it's a driver for sure. <center>

I was shocked when I heard Mark sold the little roadster. Glad to hear Bob and you were able to help the new owner with transport. Looking forward to seeing the new owner and the roadster at the KKOA Salina event next year.

Will post pics of Mike (the new owner) asap. I can tell you this, it is getting a great home. Mike owns a very busy car restoration shop and has a very nice wife and kids. He will most likely finish the car to his tastes and has big travel plans for it in his future. Win win deal really!

I would like to give a big thank you to Bob and Paul for the HAMB relay. They really helped me out by getting this all the way to Salina for the gas money. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, .........

I have never met Bob but I am looking forward to it. He is a super nice guy on the phone and helped me out by getting the car from Wi to KC.

I have met Paul (my son wanted to swap motors in his minature Model T to make it faster:D) and he did the KC to Salina and storage until the weather clears.

    Thank you again!

Hey Denise, I have met you a few times, twice in Salina and once at Bonneville by Bobby Green's cars. I think Dirty?? (don't know his full hamb name was standing there) guess I don't make a good first impression (second or third either Ha Ha) I asked you to stop by my shop if you were ever heading down I-70. Same invite to all HAMBers. Pull off in Ellis and head down main street. Check out the Walter P Chrysler boyhood home while your at it.

I own a shop in Ellis KS. I do restorations and build rods of all kinds.I had lots of cars through High School and College and sold them all off to buy a house and get started in life I guess. Started my shop about 8 years ago.

I bought this car to drive because I don't have the time to build one for myself. People think when you have a shop you can just stop everything and work on your own stuff. Most customers are not that patient. I am pumped to have something that is mine to drive again. I am going to try and paint it but I ain't tearing it down very far.

Mark has been great to deal with on this car. Very nice guy! Thanks Mark

Gonna try and pick it up as soon as the weather will cooperate. I am waiting as good as a kid before Christmas !

Oh yea, I do have a little road trip in mind come June. Can't wait. :D

    Thanks again guys.

It was fortunate that Paul and I could help Mark and Mike get together. I was more than happy to help. Sounds like the Rocket Roadster is going to a great home. How ironic that Mark and Mike have visions of the car being painted the same color! I won't let the cat out of the bag on that one.

The ride out really ****ed: snow, black ice and a 25 mph headwind. After a full day at the shop, it was not the trip I had anticipated. But it all worked out and the fuel stops were often enough to keep the coffee mug full. The Duramax handled the load, but at 9mpg.

How can you beat a chance to see some great cars, give the auction staff a bunch of **** and hang out with two great fellas from Kansas. I always enjoy spending time with Paul and ****. They deserve the VIP (very impoverished Paul) treatment.

I hoped to buy two or three at the Auction, but Dana had the buyers in attendence. Fortunately, I bought a nice 72 Chevy C10 CST 4x4 on the way home.

Good to see Paul and **** again.

PS. I had the sincere pleasure of meeting Benno aka Porkn****** in his home town. I was able to deliver a B&M Hydro to him for his Altered. I hope we see it soon.

That is one of very few cars that I like with the tires over the fender reveal...it's great that you guys all get to meet and bond, it's just unfortunate that it has to be done over the sale of a car that has obviously brought its previous owner so many good miles...and Benno, let's see some pics of that Altered :D

I kinda remember getting an email or PM? from you this past summer regarding stopping by your shop? Sorry I can't picture your face....and people wonder why I take so many photos...sure does help with remembering. I will certainly keep a visit to your shop in mind but after last summer's adventure across KS via 160 than 400 I can't see myself in that area again.

While I-70 is a major interstate it is not one I travel westbound past St Louis on.....seems I always drop down I44 to I40 and if I'm heading due west from my place I just stay on I-80. I will be at the KKOA Salina event in July though. Let's say hi again AND snap a photo for my memory bank.:D

  22. Mike just called and he's as giddy as a school girl and I can't blame him... wait until he gives a driving report...!

I'm REALLY happy that the Roadster is in a good HAMB home and that Bobwop and Povertyflats were able to help as well.

    Thanks fellas!!!

I left them on the car with insurance so that he could drive it... and he's on the phone with me right now and told me he drove it through town and stopped by where his wife works and gave her a ride!!!!

    Yep... it's got a good home...!

I told Mark I wasn't gonna drive it today because of the weather, I lied! Couldn't help myself. I would like to thank Mark, this car is exactly as he described it! I am totally happy.

Here is the Rocket at it's new home, with the kids, and my wife and I.

Drove it up main street in Ellis in the snow. Everyone kinda looked at me funny. Guess they didn't think it was roadster weather. Ha Ha. Handles great at an idle in the snow. On the way up main st I felt my cell phone vibrate, I answered it and it was my wife. She heard me drive by where she works and said, "whats a gal gotta do to get a ride?" ;) So I stopped and picked her up. Cold as heck but she was all smiles too.

My kids were just a little excited!! Fired it up and it made both of them jump.

    Drew just said "oh yea!!!"

Michaela said "Mom, if we are going on a trip in this car...where are we gonna put the luggage?" Ha Ha.

Really excited and can't wipe this stupid grin off my face.

I would like to say a big thank you to **** who let me in to pick this up earlier today because it is gonna be nasty out tonight.

Paul, I left you something on your fork lift. I hope you'll like it. Thanks Mike

Thanks Bob... you and the good people on the HAMB made it happen.
