  2. This is most likely Dyno's old wagon. Bagwell was the last owner.

Jody;didn't Dyno's wagon end up in Hawaii ? I know a few have been cloned with the fastest being the one that Jay drives out of 422's stable.I guess we need to get Ken some glasses,he should know a 64 from a 65!!! ROY.

Dyno's wagon went to Hawaii and then was shipped back, later Bagwell had it as shown above. It is said to have been buried behind Bagwells shop and the rest they say is "History" as interpreted by several folks who have "found it" a few times. The Strip Teaser Comet renamed the "Hole Shot" I think. My apologies to the photographers as I don't have a record of where I got these except for the Fred Simmons photo that came from Georgiadragracing.com.

I believe I read some where that this car still exists and is stored in the shop of one of the owners.

Does anyone know the last owner of this car? Can anyone varify the VIN for me. There is a chance my friend has this car and we are trying to trace it. Last owner I know of is Andy Boutwell of Ill. Any help would be GREAT!! thanks.

The 64 SS Comet is still owned by the Williams brothers and is still raced in Division 7 NHRA events. That Comet held many records over the years until all the crybaby GM guys had it factored out of being competative. It is painted differant than that photo and is named Smokey the Bear.Bitchin Comet and Kool guys,I've known them for years. now falconred - without starting a lot crap. the "gatejob" '66 fliptop- pete gates built that car , the '65 comet in the backround is "dyno's old car (sold to gates for $5000.00 plus help from earl wade on tuning and such.I'm not sure but I think dee keaton built his car also. later, matt.

I don't know for sure but I had always thought that the '66 Gatejob was the old Dyno Don Eliminator I after Dyno got the '67 Eliminator II car. I could be wrong but that was in the back of my mind.

I went back and found this on the Yahoo Funnycar forum and believe this is probably right (with the exception of them diging up Dyno's old wagon.

    Daryl Huffman posted:

Lot of people are confusing things. Here goes. Pete Gates bought only the 1965 Comet from Dyno Don. Dyno Don`s Eliminator 1 was destroyed at Cecil County in early 1967. Pete Gates was able to get a left over 1966 Mercury Comet body, to start out the 1967 season. Hard to be the same car, when raced together with these 2 cars. He later got a new 1967 Mercury Cyclone body in mid year. Pete later sold both Comets and the Logghe chassis to Wayne Gapp. Dyno`s 1967 Mercury Comet was never sold to another racer. Dyno Don sold the 1964 AFX Comet to Matt Fenton, not Bagwell. Bagwell did buy the wagon. Wagon was cut in half by the flywheel I believe, and was buried. Was later dug up, and the tag off the glovebox was taken off. Dyno`s other 1965 Comet, the one Eddie Schartman drove, was sold to Ray Uhl, out of Cleveland, Ohio. There are issues with the now restored Schartman car. I can do for you Bob, if needed. Daryl

I can relate to the gas cap $$$ story. My dad had a 64 Falcon 2 dr sedan delivery that I ended up with. I think he paid $80.00 for the correct gas cap in the 90s.
