Not sure why I love reading through the classifieds sections in old Hot Rod Magazines. It's probably the prices that interest me the most besides seeing feature cars up for sale right next to home built jobs. I don't have a huge collection of old HRM's but I have a few. And so with a stack in hand I headed to my office to scan some of the classifieds and found some really cool cars, a few we all know and love.

This Thread will be dedicated to Old Classified ads so if you have any post them!!! Here is my first batch....

The 32 in Tulsa would be on the same street as and just a couple miles from where my shop is now! I will drive by there on the way home just to make sure.

I would really like to know more about this one and perhaps if anybody knows where it is today. I just think it's cool....well maybe not the rear window but everything else!

There sure seems to be a lot of fiberglas cars. Someone should have told these guys fiberglass isn't traditional.

I know this may sound crazy, but with a little internet search/sleuthing you WILL find some of the cars in the ads. I found 3 in Kansas City and they are still around and the "son or daughter" is going to fix them up. It will take you ALOT of time on the phone and using your best "nice guy" voice to try to find them, but they are out there. I am still chasing a 32' Ford roadster in the Wichita area from an Estate sale box that I bought a couple of years back and it said "Grandpa _____'s old car" on the box with all of the receipts and his V8 club information. I have almost tracked it down & have been told that the old junk car is in a cousins garage.

Chris

Oh yea, cool post.

I think that OG Larsen/Cummings bonneville car is cool, anyone know its whereabouts now? It would be worth some $$$.

What cost $1000 in 1962 would cost $7043.54 in 2008.
OR
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2008 and 1962,
they would cost you $1000 and $145.77 respectively.

I can see it now. Fourteen guys trying to hurry up and write a letter and get to the post office before someone else beats them to their dream car. Those may be the good old days, but we sure have it easy with the innernetz.

Thanks for this thread Jeffro. It's cool seeing what could be had for what we think is so cheap.
