You're Fired.;) Actually, I am surprised that I did not get a bunch of responses like "already been done dude" or "use the search function".

I guess I can expect a sock full of quarters to the head this April at the Roundup huh?

I thought about that to especially on the wanted ads. There was one that said...

Wanted '32 Ford coupe....send pics to....

I just laughed because I could see a guy getting mail in or sending it out and waiting days for a big fat NO.:D:D:D

It just goes to show what can be had today for a decent price and a sound investment. For one, there is a '32 Sedan in the HAMB classifieds going for $32,000 but should be worth more with it's history. In a few years perhaps we would probably see that same car in the $45-50 thousand range. Tell me where in an economy like this are you going to see that kind of return. My problem is that I would not be willing to part with any of them which makes me a loser at the hot rod investment game.

  3. Great thread! So much easier to look at the big pictures on the screen compared to the little ones in the magazine.

  4. I have a bunch of those saved too, love looking at the old ads. Didnt see this one up there yet.

My god it does look like the same car. Your Dad must have fixed the rear glass issue. Any idea where it is now??

Wow!!! What a cool bit of info. I am sure he is really glad he did not get rid of that thing. It's awesome!!! i was going to mention that car because of how rad it looked but also because it seemed like a car that was built by an ordinary guy that knew what cool was. Another reason I liked it was that it ran a early Chevy V8 with dodge gauges which is something that I am doing in my '35 coupe right now although I am running Desoto's I think. Perhaps SW's were out of reach or he just wanted a change of pace but I am sure they look cool. Post some pics of his car when you can!!!

Hey, does that 34 have a light blue (or turqoise?) and white interior?...I think I've seen it before, maybe I've got it confused with another???

The '30 A coupe with '55 Olds motor for $1000 is my favorite...I typically hate seeing A's that low, but that just looks right...I doubt I could even fit in there to drive it though :(

Very cool thread. I like looking at the old ads, but I'm a glutton for punishment. It's interesting to see the "famous" cars for sale. Some of the sellers names are familiar too and some of them are still in the hobby. I'll bet there isn't one of them who wishes they didn't sell their car so cheap.

Yes, this car was featured in Popular Mechanics January 1961, and in Rodding and Re-styling January 1961. The fiberglass roadster was constructed on top of a 1957 Oldsmobile chassis.

Nice thread. I'll pull out some of my favorites to add. I also really enjoy seeing the manufacturers ads. It says a lot about the companies that are still around!

I have a few more books to scan in today so I should have a few more. I think one of them has the Aztec which is cool. I did notice that all of my books from the mid 50's and earlier did not have pictures included with the ads so I guess I'll probably spare those unless I see something really cool!

Yes, it still has the white and baby blue interior from 1956.
The car looks pretty much the same as it was then. Now has stainless 34 bumpers and, as of this year, smaller front tires and Wheel Vintiques wheels and Ford hubcaps.
It has Corvair front end from install in '65 with disc brakes installed a few years ago.
He made a stainless dash with swirls and installed StageIII SW gauges years ago.
    327 and BW T10 now.
S10 rear and Chassis Eng parallel leaves kit a couple of years ago.
I've been helping him with the car since 1974.
A trip with him to the '74 St. Paul Nats inspired me to build my car.
This picture is from York in about 2002:

Awesome! Any pics of the interior in '56 especially the dash??? Car pretty much looks the same now with the exceptions of the things underneath the skin.
