I was just looking on google and I found this thought it was kinda cool figured you guys would enjoy it.
Sweet, maybe some enterprising Rat Rodders should try and save em. Keep that barnacle and sea weed patina. That'll really make them stand out from the crowd, who needs paint when you have green slim
Tons of military vehicles, planes, tanks and etc. were dumped into the ocean instead of brought back to the US. It was just cheaper to dump them instead of ship them back.
gotta love how humans look out for mother nature...no wonder we can't eat the fish more than once a week
the city bought junk cars back when, to dump in the ocean as atificial reafs off the coast of la jolla. The sea was over fished and this helped. Too much enviromental hazards anymore.
My dad was in Korea and told me they dumped loads of equipment in the ocean. He said that it was so people in the states would have to make new and not let the surplus flood the market.
i have a customer who dives in rio de janero. (did i spell that correct?) ive seen his pics of trucks and bulldozers on the deck of sunkin ships. i think he said (i could be wrong) that the american navy sunk 122 boats in two days after the war. theres even whole decks full of mines. rows n rows of em.
Hard telling what you would run out from under the dash of one of those things !! You might just put a lump in the back of your wetsuit ! You think running out a snake or a mouse is bad !!
Think I'd rather go diving on the SS Andrea Doria for the Chrysler Norseman built by Ghia that went down with the ship. http://www.moparstyle.com/wiki/index.php?title=Chrysler_Norseman
The Norseman was the most famous car lost at sea.I think, there was a RR on the Titanic when she sank?.
wow that is crazy but i think it would be fun to go divin around there and check it out, but i would have to learn how to swim first i just know how to float lol
51 chevy in a lake,no disrepect for kathleen,i've got a missing person site but i still wonder about that car.no pics though. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2008/may/19/bones-parksville-lake-may-be-kathleen-wrinkle/
The Solomon Is are an incredible place for this. The sheer amount of shipping and equipment on the ocean floor is staggering. We swam for a couple of miles and never saw the bottom, just wreckage. Doc.
I thought I seen it first here on the HAMB? But I have looking for a "car body" to place in the bottom of the wife's fish tank!!! I like sunken treasure
The Doria is collapsing and is now extremely dangerous to dive on. Several divers have become disoriented and perished while on the ship. The Norseman was visited about ten years ago by a diver looking for it, he found it and said it's an unrecognizable pile of random rubble, with the tires and one hubcap being the only way he identified it. That cargo hold has since collapsed and it can never be seen again. -KK
