Got a 235 in the 55 3100, still stock for the time being. I will eventually build a custom intake for a pair of SU carbs and get some headers on it. I'll do a cam, but one that accentuates the low-end torque, since I do use this as a work horse. Rearend was previously upgraded from a 4.10 open to a 3.54 posi, still running the granny 4, but I like it that way. Looking at installing a Ranger overdrive unit to split the gears if I can scrape up the funds. As it is it cruises down the highway at a little over 2500 rpm at 65, and runs in the high teens for fuel mileage.

running a late '60's 250 GM 6 in my '37 Pontiac backed by a 700r4, and a '67 Nova rear with 3.08's. Pretty much a stocker, redid the head myself 'bout a month ago (burnt valve) runs along fine at 60, not sure what the milage is like, but I know it aint too bad. Does well luggin the 3100 pound four door down the road. Would like to run a set-up like RDR's (3x1 intake/split exh)... in time I guess. Just happy it runs for now.

According to my old Clifford catalogue, their version of the old 'vette cam sounds like what you're looking for.
I remember they said it had a smooth idle, was worth a 10% HP increase and I think the "power range" was like 1100-3800 RPM
Don't see it at their website, but it might be worth an email to ask 'em if they can still grind one for ya'.
    I think lift / duration was listed as .408" @ 256 degrees.
Sorry, can't recall the part number now and the catalogue is packed away.
The rest of it sounds cool, although I wonder if the engine wouldn't be happier with taller gears, like a 3.08 or keep the 4.11's and use an OD tranny.
There was a 4-spd OD tranny that I believe was based on a B-W T-18. No granny first, but 27% of OD in 4th.
That changes a 4.10 gearset to an effective 2.993.
I know GM was using in sometime around the late 70's / early 80's.
Dodge also used it all through the 70's.

  5. Hmmm ... damn this thread! I have 2 '53 Fordor Customlines and picked up a '53 Tudor that already had bodywork and paint done but an inline 6. Planned to put one of the flatheads in it until I read this thread. Hmmmm ....

Sorry, its not like a '32 Ford or anything like that, but here's a 265 sitting in a Valant.
Must be some kind of "race" version, with all those Webers sticking out the side.

  12. Nope, thats not a "race" version, depending on the cam, etc and gearbox its the R/T version of the 1971-73 Oz Valiant Charger in one of the E37/E38 or E48/E49 STREET versions, from 260-302hp out of 265 cubes, called the 265 "Hemi" but its not a real hemi head, and is not a crossflow design, but went well enough......lol.....those aircleaners are not quite the originals but close to them, but the Webers & headers were part of the E package.......andyd

Thanks Andy, but I thought only the E48/49 got the 265 and the E37/38 had the smaller engine (sorry, displacement escapes me at the moment).
Also, what do you mean its not a "real" hemi?
Are you saying it doesn't have a hemispherical combustion chamber?

I have a blown 255 chevy 6 in my front engine rail. Won the NHRA reunion in bowling green in O5, runner up in O6. 5.90 in the 1/8- 10.50's in the quarter- at 5500 RPM . heck yea it will run. Line up that V thing . I always like the look on their face in the shut down lane.Did I mention that I often have problems getting back to the pitts due to you guessed it the what the hell was that crowd. Mitch

Hey Brit Digger, How do those jags work out for you. Good looking engine. Had a V-12 back in the day great engine with a lot of torque but the main problem was all the lucas electronics, get rid of that and you got a great engine. Just my .02 cents

Not my car .... but I sure wish it was.

Posted pics on another HAMB thread once to see if anyone here owned or knew the car .... no responses.

    I LOVE THIS BUILD ! :D

I have a fondness for inline engines in general, and for the 200ci Ford in particular. The last I saw of my early Econoline van it was well on it's third trip around the odometer. Tough-ass little engines!

That is one sweet T. The nice thing about those little Falcon engines is that you can still get a low hood over them in a car like this. SWEEEET!

Man, just checked out this latest page and all I can say is....=0
    NICE rides, people!

Say, here's a question (okay, two)...

    1) Can one use the cylinder head off a 194 Chevy six on a 250 or a 292 Chevy Six, and if so, will it result in a raise in c.r.?

    2) If so, how much of a c.r. bump are we looking at?
    (assume same thickness head gasket)

    ...just curious.

6narow; Yes they interchange. Lumps By Larry, Dana Beach Florida. I haven't talked to them, just know by word of mouth, but I have been told that the 194 heads have a slightly smaller combustion chamber,
edit; advantage? just what I been told and .......................................
