Still More Musty New England Hot Rod Pix

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by safariknut, Nov 21, 2004.

  1. Found even more pictures going through my files today so I figured I'd post a few.The first pic of the Pontiac roadster was from the 4th Northeast Rod Run in Kingston,NY in 1972.It had a 389 in it and was gorgeous. The truck next to it was(I believe)Jerry Galluccio's from the CSRA and he got married at that show. The rest of the pics are from either the Drive-In show or a show in Newburyport M***achusetts in the early 70's.It was put on by the North Shore Old Car Club and was the first time(to my knowledge anyway)that hot rods were ever invited to an antique car club event in the area.Turned out pretty good too.The pic of the chopped and sectioned Shoebox was taken at Lead East in 91.Probably the nicest Shoebox I've ever seen and the work was A-plus.Enjoy the tour.

  2. The 27 T sedan was owned by(I think)Bob Megane and was really sharp.A lot of these pics I cannot ID the owners but maybe someone who sees this post could jump in if they know who owns a particular vehicle.

  3. This 40 Coupe had the deepest black paint in the world and the body was flawless. From the NJSRA I think.

  4. A nice 3 window.Who owned it Dennis?Help me out here.

  5. Another nice car;owner unknown from the Newburyport show.

  6. This 3 window was from Connecticut and I have pics of it at Sturbridge in 69 when it was in gray primer and had 12 spokes up front.A beautiful car.

  7. Nice 32 sedan.Don't know the owner.

  8. I talked with the owner of this coupe. He had paid $50 for the car originally and in the pic had less than $350 in it at the time!Boy do I wish for those days again!

  9. This chopped 41 I believe was owned by Don Burley at the time.Nice early custom.BTW the T bucket in the background belonged to Paul Donahue(the guy who had the SBC powered Mayflower in the last post). The reason I mention it is that he bought the car from a guy in St.Louis and DROVE it home to M***achusetts with no top and/or heater in the middle of FEBRUARY!!!That's slightly over a THOUSAND miles!

  10. The Pontiac was Bob Saputo's (LISRA)

The guy in the T sedan looks like Bob Kenworthy but I thought his car was always brown/bronze and had a Corvair front end (with Pantera rack and pinion - work at a Ford/Mercury dealer). If it had a Dunkin Donuts pink interior it was Rob Anderson's from Vintage Whhels of RI.

I agree with the NJSRA for the 40 but I can't remember who owned it.

The other two I'm drawing blanks on

  11. The next car:If you're from New England and DON'T know who owns this car, than you're probably not breathing or under 50.

  12. This beautiful Deuce belonged to Harvey Richardson from the Orientals Car Club and had a blown 468 inch Olds for power and it WAS powerful!Note the rear wheels;I think they may have come from a certain dragster that he was affiliated with many moons ago.

  13. A neat looking Henry J and that is all I know about it.

All these New England pics, and where's Skip's 34 or the Rubbo roadster??? [IMG]

  16. This next car I believe is Ken Sargent's and if so he still owns it.It is now blue with flames.Kenny and Gil Corraine do the Ty-Rods videos and Gil is a part owner of New England Dragway.

  17. John Hartnett's 55 Delivery.John was a very prolific striper on the South Shore.Haven't seen him in years.Anybody know if he's still around?

  18. Now for something completely different;a custom 40 Ford coupe!Note the 1/4 window treatment.

  19. Different? You can't get much more different than this:Richie Willet's phantom 32 Ford Town Car made from the front of a Deuce roadster [IMG]and the back of a sedan!Right hand drive Ford V-6 power, maroon body with black fenders, silver reveal with GREEN striping and GREEN wheels!Actually I like the color combo.

  20. Sonny Pasternak's van with possibly every color imaginable on it.The pic after shows a car Sonny built when he was 15.34 Ford sedan DRASTICALLY shortened(76"W.B.)powered by an Olds and handmade fenders and grille.

  21. And,"the Fly"in glorious black and white!

  22. Two more pics and then I quit. We've seen some cars for Show;now here's one for GO!A Bantam couple with Rat motor.Talk about overkill!

I think the black '27 Tudor belong to Bob Anderson fron Rhode Island, The '32 three window was a fixture at the CSRA Swap Meet when it was a Superior Spring in Hartford, real nice car. Cant remember Jimmys last name, he has a nice light blue full fendered '32 roadster to go with it now.

  24. the Ultimate Shoebox. As for Skip's car and Saby's 36,I don't have any pics of Skip's car that I know of and the only pic I had of Saby's is MIA.I lost a lot of pics when I moved out here 11 years ago.

Yup that was him.Belonged to the Vintage Wheels if I remember correctly. That 3 window was my favorite car for a LONG time;everything about it was right.I didn't like the change to wires though;it lost something. Thanks for the info.
