Just checking to see how many H.A.M.B. members we have in the LaSalle, Peru, Spring Valley, Ottawa, Illinois area. My name is Harold Dzierzynski Jr. Peru, IL
Hi Harold, I'm Dave Kimzey. I am an Army guy who lives over in Davenport Iowa. I'm stationed at Rock Island ****nal. I grew up in Southern Illinois, but I am not too far away from you! I would love to meet you sometime, but for now I am waiting to have back surgery...but once I am healed I would love to come over and see your stuff. I don't have a HAMB worthy car right now, but I am working a car like I had in high school: a 1973 Chrysler Newport Custom (lead sled). I would love to get a reply from you...and thanks for posting...cheers! Dave
Dave, My father and I are old Chrysler guys. Any questions about the Newport just let me know. Here is a link to the thread I started on our Hot Rod when I first joined the HAMB. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=217894
Harold, I live in Dalzell, I am doing a 54 Customline right now. It would be nice to get to know some more local guys into what I am into.
Hi there, I'm from Fairbury Illinois. Several traditional rodders around here but several not computer smart to be members of the HAMB.
Wow it's taken almost two years to get 13 posts! I'm in Morris. Been thinking about having a H.A.M.B. event at our shop. I make a killer omelet! No donuts! http://thehotrodbarn.com
That's what I'm talkin' about!!! When you figure out a date post it to the main board and also to the HAMB & Eggs social group: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=154 You're only an hour from where the SW Chicago HAMB & Eggers meet every Saturday morning (see thread on above social group link) so I'm sure some of us'll make the trek - and vice versa, you guys are welcome to join us anytime. Also TONIGHT is the Hot Rod Ch***is & Cycle Holiday Soiree Open House in Addison. LOTS of HAMB folks there! Harold, I'm in Mokena (east of Joliet near I-80) and get out your way every once-in-a-while. You've got a custom car celebrity right in your backyard as well - Fuzzy (FUZZ991) - a veritable walking encyclopedia.
Joliet here but I have been pipelinin through there the last 2 years so I know every tavern in the area, big fan of Jerry's in Ransom
Sam and Larry just reminded me.. last year we had three "HAMB on the Rocks" here in the Rockford area. We met for lunch in Roscoe on a couple of cold Saturdays and had some VERY special guests from as far away as Mokena, Aurora and even a few from "nort of da border". Our max attendance was 16 last winter! We should have the first one of 2010 in January and I've been thinking of ways to make the trip worthwhile such as a little garage crawl. There is a HAMBer I know in Belvidere who has a great place we might be able to tour. I haven't asked him yet but it's just a "Hopp" away. Stay tuned.
Sounds great! February is better than January and I wouldn't worry too much about the weather, they keep that road to your place in pretty good shape. Hey Evil Pseudo Step Son! Glo and I are itchin' to make another one of your stellar "HAMB on the Rocks" gigs. That shop tour sounds Kerrrrrry interesting!!
Don't forget that the Bare Bones have their Polar Bear Cruise in late January, so that's a good opportunity to get together, too. I think it's in the Far South and West suburbs and Joliet this year, so not that far from LaSalle/Peru/Ottawa/Morris.
OK mark your calendars! The first HAMB on the Rocks date is set for January 23rd. We will be meeting a little further south this time because Kerry Hopperstad of Hopperstad's Customs has offered to host a little tour / open house at his shop in Belvidere after we all eat lunch. So what I have ironed out so far is: 12 noon we will meet in Belvidere for lunch (not sure where yet) 1 - 1:30 pm we will head over to Hopperstad's to hang out for a while. Can't think of a better way to killl a cold saturday afternoon! I'll post this on the HAMB & Eggs social group and on my original thread too! Stay tuned for the lunch location and thanks to Hopperstad for the hospitality.
