Lack of front brakes is scary though:eek::eek: - but otherwise a sweet car. Sorry I don't have any photos or history.

Boy!! Isn't that the truth. I can't believe how many threads have for thier SECOND post "chop the **** out of it". I blame a lot of it on the "rat rod" mentality that becomes over whelming at times around here.

Brandon, I knew I had a shot of that car in an old "Best of Hot Rod " book. Damned if it wasn't the exact same shot you have. Good luck man. That is a killer coupe!!!

I wouldn't change a thing, except to drive it a lot and it would end up with a lot of road rash and therefore wouldn't be a show car anymore:D

Let's hope somebody ain't put disc brakes on it or chopped it.

Brandon...found these in a May '68 Hot Rod...sorry for the fuzzy pics, here's the article:

"Jay Kovarsky of Venice, California, started this little jewel when he was 15 1/2 years old.The original purchase price was $350. After 3 1/2 years of loving labor, and ten times the original price was invested, he now has a truley unique Ford/Chevrolet combination that literally stops traffic.
The '26 "T" body rests on the original frame, with a '31 Ford axle lightened and dropped 4 1/2 inches up front, and a '56 Chevy rearend with coil suspension.
The Cragar-driven 4-71 GMC blower rests on a 327 Corvette of '65 vintage. The engine has a Crower roller cam, with stock FI heads, valves and pistons; ignition is by Mallory. Clutch and flywheel are stock 10 1/2 inch Chevrolet with a stock Muncie 4-speed transmission.
A pair of '40 Ford spindles up front carry American mags with Pirelli tires. Note, no front brakes---this may be illegal in your area, check first.
American mags on the rear mount Firestones, with stock Chevrolet brakes for stopping power. Those neat little taillights are from a '57 Chevy truck."

Damn!...he was only 19 years old when he finished it!

when i talked to him yesterday , he mentioned the deal on the front wheels with no brakes....as he put it...it wasn't illegal then. he said it sold locally in venice , then disappeared. its pretty typical car of that time in that area , but it is a *****in ride still. thanks again for the pics.

...yeah, I thought that was funny that Hot Rod would mention that in the article, never noticed them do that before...
...still, that's one of my favorite T coupes ever...I've got nearly everything to clone it...I've got four T coupe bodies, 3--unchopped, and 1 with a 10" cut...one of the unchopped ones is about 99.5% rust-free, and would probably be the best canidate for a show-quality clone of Jay's T...

I would like for someone to quote a local ordinance that contradicts the general rule enforced by DMV everywhere that I am familiar with. The car, as far as I know, that is ***led and licensed as a "1926 Model T Ford"(and hundreds of other examples), which didn't have front wheel brakes when it was manufactured is not in violation when driven on public roadways.

I keep hearing people say it's illegal. As far as I know it ain't illegal. I have personal friends that drive their Model T's, Pre-1928 Chivvys, etc. all without front wheel brakes. Some have been modified, with different motors, suspension modified, etc. but still retain the original configuration, ***led and licensed as they were originally.

Yep, it is a Scott scoop. Machined an adaptor to mount it on the carb. The scoop is the only thing I kept when I sold the car. Sure would like to find the rest of it to put it back on.

    Hi Everyone.
First let me introduce myself, I'm Jay Kovarsky, the kid (not any longer) that built "Troubles" the '26 T Coupe I gotta say thanks for all the great comments, it was one of a kind in the day, and I'm glad to see there are still guys around that appreciate a cool hotrod. I'm still building cars (I think once it's in your blood, you never give it up) and just finished a '65 Chevelle drop top, as well as many car thru the years. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I will.
To answer a few questions, yes, it is a Scott Injector scoop. Had to machine an adaptor to mount on the Holly carb. As far as the brakes go, it is true, it was registered as a '26 and they had no front brakes so none were required by law, at least here in California. Believe me, I was stopped more than a few times by Cops for equipment violations. The only one they ever got me for, was no windshield wiper. Put a hand crank one in (that was original equipment) and got it checked by the CHP and was cleared.
The only problem with the car was I kept snapping axels. After 2 sets, I had a set of Henery's racing axels made up...solved the problem.
I know it's been posted here but I would really like to find this old beast and bring it home to Venice where I built it. I kept the Scott scoop and would sure like to put it back on. I'm gonna pursue finding it, and I'll keep you informed of my progress.
Once again, Thanks for the great comments.jayko@ca.rr.com

Sorry, no info from me on its current whereabouts.

But, it sure was a bad*** little car. Love the personal pictures you posted.

Here's to you finding it, unmolested and ready to dust off and run!

This place is the **** man. Real rodders doin real stuff. Love it. Seems odd today that at 19 you built this, but I'll bet you remember that what you were doing was "normal". Today 19 reminds me of 12 or 13 yr olds, but not here. Props to you and hopin you find it. I'd love to see you back together.

  29. Nice T allright. Hope it gets found. Back in the 70s I noticed that most
of the old cars I bought, played with for a while, then sold...left town. And
I haven't seen any of them since. Have never tried to track one down,
but I know some guys have gotten lucky and found their old rides.
