Just wanted to throw out there a call to all NYC H.A.M.B. members. I go to a few shows in the city each year and see alot of killer Rodz so I just wanted to know how many might be on the H.A.M.B.

Step up and be counted and lets see your ride.
I'm sure a few of you might be tired of seeing "THE SLED" but WTF I started this thread so here I go again

Yeah, we all moved the fuck away from that zoo. Did you catch that survey on Yahoo yesterday? Listed all 50 states in order of how happy the residents were...NY came out 51 (they included DC)...dead last!
I guess it's not all bad...at least you guys got a couple of feet worth of WHITE DEATH to deal with this weekend. All we got down here in TN was a few raindrops.

I think that N.Y.C. is pretty barren as far as H.A.M.B. members go.

You are right and I am sorry. Still have a ton of anger towards that place.

Dad was born in NYC, he used to take me into the city for the cars shows in the 1960's. I've always wondered if there are cars and bikes stashed away in the city. There is a new "Barn Find" almost every day, how about "City Finds"?

If you expand to include some the burbs (Westchester Cty, Lower Fairfield Cty,CT) , I'm sure you'll find a lot more...space is at a premium in the city, so very few people have garages.

Me,Astoria Queens born & raised, astoria park, worked at Bridge auto parts, hung out with the older drag racers from the connecting hwy, loved it all.Last year I lived there I had 11 cars stolen, not to mention how alternate side parking and the brownies(traffic dept) started towing everything that wasnt registered killed me. I always bought all the $50 cars but could barely afford to register 1 at a time.Moved to Orange county ,ny in 1993. Ive got an acre and a half but down to 7 cars, now its the wife and town keeping me down!Still travel to Brooklyn every day to travel and still have a 36 in moms garage in Queens.Whenever I open the garage car guys show up, theyre still here just not much room left.

It's OK. We all know it can be pretty tough here. On a day like this [ 10 " of snow ] we all wish we were down south. I can ship some pot holes and YANKEE tickets if you really miss THE BIG APPLE. :D

They are out there. Been trying to pry a 40 Ford coupe [ built in the early 70's ] with a flathead and Scott's blower out of a garage in Queens for years. Owners in his early 80s and wont part with it. 4 flats 1/2 of dust and not run in years. What a time capsule. 2 different 32 Fords [ 1- 3 window 1- 5 window ] in same condition in different boroughs that keep me knocking on doors for years. Sometimes it about the hunt.

Bro, I've been gone from that place for 6 years, and to this day, as soon as I get anywhere NEAR NYC, I start getting all uptight and edgy. Born, raised and spent the first 40 years of my life there.
I remember back in the 70's and 80's when it was the greatest place in the world to grow up. Anything you wanted, any way you wanted it...and street racing 7 nights a week.
But something changed...from the mid 80's on, everything that was cool and right about NYC started to disappear. The cops started multiplying, the laws became unreasonable, the cost of living, which was always nuts, became extreme...people started shutting themselves off, shutting themselves in. The last 10 years I was there was total misery.
I had a big house, two good business and a bunch of good friends...but the feeling that I was fighting a war every day was just too much. One day, I just looked around, said to myself that this had to stop, and I dumped everything I had and headed south.
Best decision of my entire life. I've been here in Tn for 6 years, and every day, I still marvel at how easy life is, an how beautiful the landscape is, and how open and sincerely nice the people are. It was like getting out of prison.
It kills me to say, there is not a single thing I miss about my hometown. The things I would have missed simply do not exist there anymore.
You car guys who stick it out there...you've got my respect. I don't know how or why you do it, but keep on keepin on!

being a car guy in the city is hard in itself. riding a motorcycle is even harder, went out in june for a ride and got hit by a car that ran a red light. luckily he wasnt going that fast and all I needed was shoulder surgery. the beating the roads give the cars are extreme. But would not the city for anything (atleast now). Knowing I can go out and eat anything I want 24 hours a day is amazing. I was born and raised in NYC area, spent 5 years of my life in RI for college and bored senseless (nothing against you guys), small town living is not for me.
I love NYC, but rarely ever see classics in the boros.

My last couple of years in NY were all about motorcycles. Built a couple of custom things, and street raced a bit with the plastic bikes. In 2000 I had some dipshit in Olds hang a left right in front of me (I was just cruising along at 30) and I totaled his car with my right leg. Kept ridin though. I used to bungie my crutches to the bike and do everything with my left leg. Still limping from that, I had some guy stop short right in front of me, I whacked the brakes hard, went over the handlebars and broke both of my thumbs on the clutch and brake levers....and then there was the time I had a cop pull out on me with my Ninja....bounced and skidded 160 feet. Two broken ribs, broken right ankle and lost just about all the skin on my left side. Cop had mercy on me, and just left me there bleedin in the street rather than take me in for reckless endangerment.
    Ahhhh, memories..............

Not for nothing and NO DISRESPECT to you but I put this thread up to find out how many H.A.M.B.ers live and roll in NYC.I didn't want to hear your " I hate NYC"story as I'm not really interested in that.
You should start your own thread on places that you think SUCK and leave your comments to those people who want to hear them,I don't and I'm sure the people who read this don't wanna hear your rants about a city that I love and was born and raised in.
I'm still here and won't be leaving anytime soon.I run my own SUCCESSFUL business,do a few other things to make $$$$$$ and the wifey,my daughter and I love the CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS"

Sorry you had such a bad time in NYC,Hope them cows and greenery do better for you.I can't get enough of the crime, corruption and hellbent lifestyle that is New York City.

I'm from the Boro's for life! I just bought a 52 delux coupe and am getting it ready to see the public. Love this city, love the boros, but I have quite a soft spot for the county side too. Much better for cars that is for sure! Sorry if NYC ate your soul, it's happens everyday.

I guess the few of us will have to rep for NYC, I think Lenny's on here too.

I like the snow while it's falling, it's three months later when it's slush that I can't stand. But at least they'll be snow around for Holidays and I know that makes kids happy.
