Blown flathead guys - ring gap qun...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat bastad, Dec 20, 2009.

  1. What do you guys use for top/second ring gap sizes for a blown FH? Rings are plasma moly

    This is an 8BA, 3 5/16" x 3 3/4" with Ross forged, 3 ring pistons.

  2. Anyone ?

Any input here would be a great help !

  3. Too late I'm sure but I prefer gapless rings for a blower motor.

Can't give you a number I'm afraid. Look in the book or call the manufacturer's tech line?

  4. Have the manuf details in the box - but Im curious for real world experience with these pistons/rings in a blown FH.

    Hi Rat
What i always use is Top ring 0.004 x bore plus 0.004 for blown engines = .017
    Second ring 0.005 x bore plus 0.004 for blown engines = .020
    Hope that helps
    Cheers Jim

I agree with Jim and you can't go wrong with these figures.
