I like those Aussie modifieds. They look like they're all business.

Haven't opened up a photobucket account, yet to upload and enlarge my photos. In the meantime, maybe Bullfather or someone else would be kind enough to enlarge the photos for everyone to enjoy.

1st shot: Charlie Jarzombek's original vega at Islip.

2nd shot: later version of the vega at Trenton

3rd shot: a later version of the vega at Islip 79-80 once he went back to the original red one.

4th shot: a wreck at Islip with among others the X-9 with George Wagner in it

5th shot: Art Tappen in one of my favorite cars of his, the Pontiac Astre campaigned in the mid 70's. Tappen always had neat, clean cars. Have to see if I can find a shot of the pinto he campaigned after this car in '79 with the flaming numerals that someone was talking about previously.

    Enjoy.

This is Vintage44's pic that needed resizing.

    Was taken by Joe Alexander.

He says this car is the #43 coupe in Bullfather's post #3843 in this thread.

Vintage44 - If you would like a copy of the resized and compressed pic, just right click the picture and select "save picture as" from the pop up menu.

  9. How cool is this: Dave Dykes site, visit it!
Here’s a rare-one. “Chargin’ Charlie” Jarzombek is seen here hard on the throttle at the late dirt mile known as Pennsylvania’s Nazareth Raceway. Known primarily for his many accomplishments on pavement, as seen-here “Charlie J.” was one multi-talented chauffer. Originally a card-carrying member of the “Long Island Gang”, he began racing there in the late 1960’s, where he dominated at tracks like Islip, Freeport, Riverhead, and West Hampton. Later branching-out, he won 187 feature events at 16 different racetracks from Massachusetts to Florida. Sadly, Jarzombek passed-away in 1987 following an accident in a Modified event at Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway. He was posthumously inducted into the New England Auto Racing Fame in 2004. (Smith Photo).

Ryan and Bullfather - thanks for your efforts with the pics. As I said earlier, I raced the car with my club here in Upstate NY. I replicated a car my father's junkyard had that raced at Five Mile Point speedway in Kirkwood NY in the early 60's.

  11. I would be cool to see the checker design back with the #'s, doesn't have to be 43, still be 44, your number of course! But the the design would be cool and tribute to the coupe itself and former driver.

  12. If you have the chance and see a website on any photos, go visit them.
