Hey, Baldtireman, if Smitty did campaign that car for awhile, then that is something I missed. He was from Cannonsburg so that makes it a possibilty. That
car had a lot of western Pa history. Let us know if you find out anything

I remember Don Dahle "cleaning house" at the Labor Day races at Heidelberg in I think 1960 on the 1/4 mile. I think the car was the "Patterson Offy" at that time. Didnt Jim Schaeffer from New Castle,Pa. also take a turn or two in the car? John S.:)

Ken, you were talking about Bashful Bobby. Here are a few pics I've had around here for quite awhile.

Yes, John, Patterson did after the car after Lowther had it. He ran it with the same paint scheme and the No. 77. Lowther also had a second car painted the same way but No. 88.

Since this was an interesting .. one of a kind midget, I thought I'd repost it here.

I'm going to put who I think the drivers of these historically preserved cars are .. the ones I THINK I recognize.

PLEASE correct me where I'm wrong.

    THANKS Spike G.

Bobby Albert wore that Cromwell helmet for as long as I can remember (so did others). Well into the late 70's & maybe even longer.

Those helmets were really no more than paper macae (?spelling?) composition and offered very little to no protection.

He told me that when late in his career her started to run sprint cars on a regular basis, he thought it was about time that he got himself a new one that would actually offer him up to date protection.

Anyone have any information on Ray Lattie, midget owner in the mid sixties? I am restoring a very early, Don Edmunds, single tube, half-torsion rear, spring front, midget and Don and I are attempting to trace the origins. Don believes it is the 5th car he built and he built it for Ray Lattie in 1965. Don did not keep complete records on the early cars, like he did after about car 10.

I've only seen two of them, on a pre war flat tail Babe Staap modified, Ferguson powered car. This engine was also dry sumped. Wonder if this was all as original, or updated to that configuration?

Another info request, Don Edmunds has taken the search of my early Edmunds midget seriously and has been a temendous resource. See below.

    Carroll
I talked at length with Jim Chini yesterday, and was shocked at how bad my 79+ year old memory has become, he came up with names of more folks that purchased my early cars. Try the name Bernie Schecter on your history sites. He purchased an early single tube 1/2 bar car that he raced here on the coast , not many races, and not very hard. After a couple of years he moved east, I believe to the Chicago area, and probably sold the car to??

Do you know where to purchase this book? My dad built some bodies for midgets in N.E. Ohio. I searched Amazon but no matches appeared.

As a boy I remember the smoke filled Cleveland arena and the smell of castor oil as if were yesterday.

Here are a few photos of a TQ I just picked up. From what I was told by a guy who says he knew the man who owned and raced it originally. the car is from the late 50's and was Harley powered to start out with and then later used a Honda 4cyl that had been machined to use 250cc pistons. I have that block and cylinder bank. I have a couple of 45" Harley engines so that's my plan... my winter project begins.... I'm looking for a tail and a couple of rear wheels if anyone can help PM me please...
    thanks
    Randy

Thanks, nice to keep threads like this going. Would love to see some shots of Pappy Hough's stuff... it's about time one of the historians does a book on him. Would also like to see a shot of one of his quickchange setups, I'm sure someone has something...
