nice score, but if that thing is bagged your going to be up for an engineers report. Hard to tell from photos as its low, but not stupid low. good looking cars the 55 poncho's. Usually see a couple at the all american day at flemington.
Yep, the pontiac is bagged. Hopefully I can get around an ignorers certificate. I suppose when it gets here i will try and get it fully registered. But if i need engineers i will just put it on club permute until the time comes to get it engineered. I honestly havn't seen many of them in Melbourne. I suppose thats that is what drew me towards it. it something different over in Melbourne.
Ri5ky, I use to own that car so feel free to pm me about it. I have a flickr accout with hundred of 55 pontiac pictures, look up "kustom55" under people. BTW the motor is a 250 inline 5, not a 235. Best of luck with it, have fun.
Nope, all U.S. 250 inline from an early 60's truck, 350 trans and a rear end from an early 80's Camaro...
Yes, welcome to the Poncho Prisoners Family Reunion. You can recognize us in a crowd of folks, we'll be the ones with an eye twitch and a slight limp.
Yep, first time I ever flaked anything. The dash and all the moldings received half a jar of flake, the roof had an entire jar, which was a bit too much for it, but it looked cool so I left it.
Okay, I finally put my glasses on tonight and thought I had scratched them. It comes with old age. What is the wire mesh on the rear bumper?
The wire mesh came from a side pipe heat sheild. I mounted my license plate to it. And this 56 Laurentian showed up at the shop last month for a full resto. It had a 454 and a 4 speed in it which made me want to build a late 60's gasser with it, but the customer wanted none of it haha. Its going all stock with the exception of a 350 chevy.
wow jalopy kid that poncho looks awesome! i love the flake low-linkon your brothers car is very very nice.
I can't find a pic of it but if you can, find the March 2009 issue of Ol' Skool Rodz, there is a '55 Star Chief in there that looks real nice.
Since we are all warm and cozy with 55 Pontiac's let me take the chance to whore myself with this plug http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261888&highlight=1955+pontiac
Curtis.... Soon enough it is at the ship yard!!! here are some pics to hold you over buddy! we put the arm rest in the truck because we would of had to take out the back seat to put them in and they are not upholstered (it was noted on the paperwork). I also threw in some extra airline he had.
John.. you have NO IDEA how good it is to see the car there!! so how did they leave it with you.. will they just leave it there until the next ship comes or something... and is there a way to like ring them and see where the car is .. like if its on the water yet or something? Very happy John.. oh and if anyone is looking at buying a car off/through John... DONT hesitate ... he is a genuine... honest man and great to deal with..
any news. The guy told dad that it will be getting loaded onto a ship today and shipped out later today?
RI5KY, first off well done and welcome to the Pontiac club! Not many of us Melbourne Hambers have one. If you had a V8 in that, I think it would be fine with the power to weight ratio. I had a 63 chev with a nice 327 in it on my P plates, never got hassled. Had other friends with similar cars all running V8s. Dont have many more pics for ya, I'm a 54 man...
