I just acquired this chassis from a friend. I will post pictures of it today at some point. It appears to be an early 60's FED that was said to run a blown Olds/PG combo. I am missing the radius rods, spindles, kingpins & wheels. I'm thinking of making it a roller and hanging it from the ceiling of my shop. I have an Olds/Pontiac rear end with it also. I also have visions of a cackle fest car. It's fairly short like the Greer Black Purdome car. I have a '68 Hilborn sitting on the shelf. My question is what wheels did these cars run? I own a motor cycle shop and have lots of debris laying around, I just need some info on the hubs. Thanks, pictures to follow in a couple of hours.
Some hubs were custom made while others were m/c hubs with custom bushings pressed into the bearings to adapt them over to the anglia or other small dragster spindle. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Any idea what MC wheels were used? Are all the front rims 17"? Any help would be great. Thanks for all the help and links already guys.
Nope not all were 17". I've got a converted pair of 18's I think - I'll dig them up and post pics - I'm sure the m/c guys might recognize them. The big time guys like Fuller machined their own hubs and just used the m/c hoops - Borranni (sp?) & Akront amoung others. Some were aluminum others steel - I like the akronts (aluminum) no worry about the chrome coming off except they do require polishing once in a while. Chrome is of course prettier. There's a website specializing in FED wire wheels and tires - the wheels can be pretty pricey for a "new" set - your best bet there is to get lucky on Ebay or a local swap meet. I think I have that site book marked on my work computer - let me know if you want it - I'll email myself a reminder and when I get back (after Jan. 4th) I'll look it up for you.

A good friend of mine, John Freight Train Peters of twin engine gas dragster fame lives about 10 minutes from my shop. I'm going to have him come over and see if he's got anything to spare for this project of mine. I always love going to his place and seeing the Freight Train, what a rad car. Jiust for rolling purposes I might make my own spindles. Can anybody give me specs on the anglia spindles as far as length and the sizes of the inner and outer bearing areas? For cars that have so little on them it's amazing how expensive the little parts are. Day-um!
