The S10 is a bit wide at the front of the frame, but that can be worked out.
I've got mine on an Explorer frame and it works well because of the narrower frame, torsion bar suspension and a couple of other things.

Here are some shots of my '50. I picked it up in Tucson in January. It's still got the flathead V8 and three speed transmission. I intend to to put a T5 transmission and eventually a Jag IFS. The Jag IFS is really simple swap in the '48-'52 trucks.

I would personally look into the Jag front clip. Go over to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts' site, http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/. There's a lot of talk about the Jag. The best thing to do is do a Google search of the site for both "jag ifs" and "frame swap". Frame swaps get a lot of heat over there but there is a lot of good info.

i ordered a set from old car center in bc. they have not showed up yet and i can't wait to see them. I beleive they are denis carpenters boards. The price seems a little hard to swallow at first but i could not find a set that weren't beat to crap.

  6. Price the steering rack before you go with this option, its lots of $$$$$$$$$$ to replace

Do the 51 type front fenders bolt on to the cab basically the same as the 48 type? Reason I ask is I am building a 48 for my daughter and want to ditch the horizontal bar grill for the toothy grin of the 51 type.

I assume I need the complete front clip as I know the thing the grill and headlights bolt to are totally different along with the lower parts of the front fenders. I also like the 51 hood louvers better.

  8. You are correct. Totally different front clip, but will bolt on your early truck.

Whats the matter you don't like the monkey face?

I dont, but I cannot put my finger on why I dont like it.

Know where I can get the new clip around Oklahoma?

  10. No I don't. I haven't been to OK in about ten years, but last time I was there to visit family in Dill city there was a 51-52 abandoned down a dirt road off a dirt road just outside of town, that I saw. The dirt was red if that helps:) ROFLMAO

  12. Stoneman,
Got a shot of how the hood pins work with the Hood? I'm considering something similar for my '50. Nice project.
    Thanks

    Hey All,

I have a 52 F1 pretty much stock on the suspension and I'm wondering if you think I will have a hard time fitting 20'' X 9.5'' rims on it. I came across an awesome deal and I think the rims look awesome. i have measured the back spacing and it's bout 4.5"".
From all the measurements I have taken I think they will fit with the right size tires. Any thoughts?

A Panel is a truck, right?

Here are two of mine. Both are stock. The 51 has a V8 flathead. The 52 has the OHV 6 cyl.

Interesting thread, as I'm about to begin work on a '52 F3...going for a gasser vibe. The flathead went to a deuce project, and the rest of the driveline went to another F3. Besides converting the 8-lug front hubs, I want to shorten the bed and rear of the frame. Not sure if an F1 bed would fit, as I know the dimensions are different from the F3 beds. Any of you tried an F1 bed on an F3?
