I know it's not done and probably doesn't belong here yet but it's the reason I started this thread. I wanted different thoughts on what others consider "classy". From what I gather from all of these posts is that we all have about the same ideas on what a "Classy Kustom" should look like. I don't think it matters what brand but I do believe the time period should loosely fit from the mid '30s through the early '60s. What my near future plans are for the car is '56 Old's headlight trim rings, extending the rear quarters about 4"s, widening the rear wheel wells and adding skirts (the original openings are way to small..), chrome dash and garnish moldings, shave the door handles, graft a '50 Ford hood nose and peak to the cowl, and of course paint it shiny. I think I will probably go back with black but with no metallic. No pin striping. No lake pipes. Eliminate the front parking lights. Painted hubcaps and just a bit lower stance. I hope this thread is still going when I get it done. I am very grateful for all of the contributers. All of you have inspired me thoroughly. So let's keep it alive!! BloodyKnuckles
pictured: First is Dan Richards' more door merc built by Gary Howard. Second is James Austins' '55 Chevy Pick-up also built by Gary Howard. if you haven't noticed, I'd have to say that Gary Howard's work is my standard for taste and class. I'd like to see a few more examples of trucks in this thread. Classy Trucks that is. please, enlighten me...
It's sure will be a pleasure to cruise this summer next to that car Booby (albeit one of us will be far behind and it's not going to be you even though your car is slow) . Can't wait till you get back on to working on this one. I know it's going have Class out the Ass!
Saw your truck on a post the other day and I was going to send you a pm wanting to see more pics of your truck. Your truck is very kool!! Happy Trails, Mick
Yep, this is pretty impressive...do you guys remember it was home built from a junkyard humpback? I remember the owner/builder thread about his "sparetime build" during one winter....and that alone was pretty impressive! Let alone the result! Cant remeber his name but i know hes from sweden if you care enuff for a search. Gets my vote as one of the classyest btw. Nick.
Wasn't the guy from Norway? Norwegian Blacksmith 36 Coupe. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222004&highlight=norwegian+blacksmith
Thanx for pointin that out desertdroog, i got a little confused ...... after all theres so many cars and builders all over the globe that it kinda happens some time to mix something up! I only wanted to give credit to a very talented guy. This said: Few classy 49/52 chebbies from Japan! As these will state that Less is More! And the unfinished one w/ its killer dash will prove it...?........ But somtimes also "More" does it, as in the pink-ish Rivi'! "Early Barris" kustoms rule allright, but bellflower style or late 60s kustoms/lows are also bitchin in my book! Just my opinion, enjoy, Nick.
Ha, just saw this... The wheels are just 14" chrome revers with shannon cones, nothing special. I would like to try to have 15" OEM style, painted to match the red with some cool hubcaps, maybe by LSRU, we'll see....
I've seen your car evolve over the past few years. It's always had a cool look, and the changes have kept it interesting. I'm certainly curious to see how the latest incarnation turns out. It's also cool to see a different model of car from the "typical" list. Keep up the good work!
It is great to see so many nice Chevy Customs. I am dropping in a couple pictures of my pride and joy Chevy. Customs forever!!!!
Shawn, Thanks alot. It is fun to hear what people guess my car is. I actually had someone call it a Merc. What a goof. You're not far from Concord. You need to get up with us on Wednesday nights for our clubs shop night. Let me know if you would like to come. Thanks to all the contributers. Incredible examples. I'm glad this thread took off again. BloodyKnuckles
