    Just finishing this up,

We are adding an art show to Beatersville this year so if any of you folks are interested in putting a piece or two in just let me know. We are looking for Hot Rod inspired art, drawings, paintings, photos, and pretty much any other thing you can hang the "low brow" tag on.

This pic is a little older, but this is the first Christmas for it. And this is one of last years Christmas balls so as soon as I can get the new ones off my phone I'll post them.

well its a little non H.A.M.B. friendly but i felt my daily driver deserved a bit of commemoration for all its loyalty and hard work. that and im thinking about painting it soon and i wanted to throw some colors around.

I did this last week, but i forgot to post it over here.

this 2' x 10' framed wood panel had been laying outside my neighbor's studio for months, until he tossed it in the trash. I grabbed it with the idea of re-gessoing it for a painting, but the patina was so nice, I just used it as is.

There's a barber shop at Beverly & Normandie with an awesome hand-painted sign that I had been thinking about lifting for years, this seemed like the perfect project for that.

I drew some quick and dirty type on graph paper, and transferred it to the panel, then painted it with One-Shot. I hadn't used any of the stuff for years, but oh man, that stuff lays down nice. The paint was thinned a bit to match the distressed surface.

The next day, I projected a section of the Wrench Devil face on the panel, and painted it as quickly as possible, trying desperately to make the paint run and drip as I did so. If you had any idea how fussy and anal I am about my work, you would understand what a challenge it is for me to be messy.

I left it to dry overnight, then came in the next morning and did some stencil work to finish it off.

I'm really happy with the results. It looks different from my other stuff, but is still recognizable (I hope) as my work. Best of all, i did the whole thing in three days, with zero planning!
