The 77 ARCA car was owned by Charlie & Pat Newby from New Baltimore, MI. The driver is more than likely Dennis Metpennington ( No idea if this the correct spelling ), or a chance it could be Donny LaDuke but I don't think the driver in the picture is tall enough for Donny. How close am I ?

Just found out that Bill Kimmel Sr., one of the pioneers of stock car racing in the Louisville area, was the recipient of the John Marcum Award, named for the founder of ARCA. He is the father of Frank Kimmel and his crew chief, Bill Sr. He is shown with his grandson, Frank Jr., the latest in the line of winning Kimmel drivers. Bill Sr. is also one of my oldest friends in racing, one of the first drivers to befriend me when I was selling NSSN in the grandstands at the Jeffersonville (IN) Sportsdrome in 1949, and to support me when I became a racing official in 1961. Congratulations, old friend...

I have heard some say if things had worked out a little differently that Stacy was a better driver than Lorenzen. I won't comment too much as Lorenzen was my hero when I was young.
Don't like to get into personalities, but I recall somebody telling me back in the 60s that Stacy felt like Lorenzen was Holman's "Pet."
