I bought mine a year ago and it was cast in china/machined in USA. I'm over it and if you want pure USA buy Edelbrock...that's what they claim...

Even though it goes away (offshore) I think it will come back. Shit always happens, and it does a loop. I'm an Industrialist been around long enough to have seen it in many things (especially castings). But as I preach aftermarket parts, Mom & Pop US made brands we are used to buying with building rods anymore it is a crap shoot. Keep a hold of your old shit!

It's a fact of life, and with the greenies it's only going to get worse. I've tryed to work with foundries in this country and most of the time the money to reproduce a short run part is prohibitive. More jobs of this kind will be leaving this country as will the production of parts. It will be a flood.

i wouldn't have so many problems with the import stuff if it was made to our standards, but seem like there is no standards applied especially if it comes from china.
it's not political, apiece of shit is just a piece of shit, and it seem it's more about proffit then anything'
i've said it many times on here but i'll say it again , i'll take my old parts made by proud american workers that cared about quality.
    just my thoughts.

It doesn't matter. Once the rest of our jobs are gone you won't be able to buy a part no matter where it was made.

Don't blame the Chinese... blame the US firms who have their stuff made off shore. Quality wise, it's those US firms that are responsible for quality control. If they don't care, then the Chinese guys will keep seeing how much they can get away with. There is a lot of good stuff made overseas, China is just the cheapest at the moment. India will be next, I heard, as they even work cheaper than the Red Hoard. Gary

Speaking as a former Software Engineer whose job was outsourced to India where they are employed for $2.00 per hour, I care where things are produced. We either support our neighbor's jobs or their unemployment.

The quality of everything basically sucks..ok it says made in China,,Thats all ?? Does it not fit the car or just it just get tossed 'because'

The world is about $$,and most if not all businesses make everything for as lil as they can so they can make money..

Now it the thing does'nt bolt up to the car,,or a carb won't fit or something is genuinely wrong with the intake..

Then what is the actual purpose of this post ??

and not for nothing ,,I sent a part out to a machinist ,all I wanted was a copy,,even gave him the original.. Got the old one back and the new one.. couldn't even bolt the new part up as 1/2 the wholes didn't even line up..so just saying

Recycle as many old parts as ya can,,and make as much as you can by yourself

speaking of the china manifolds, the chrome china ones, a friend is a machinist and he's had to resurface them just to get them to seal up. so i guess that's a quality control issue.
he don't realy even like them but the customer is always right, isn't he?

When living in St.Thomas, VI I had a customer that bought 4 20KW Diesel Generators from Home Depot. He said the price was to good to pass. HA, Made in China for sure. All 4 came to me, or I went to them, for repairs. Exhaust Flanges that would be stamped out here were flame cut there, and looked like no pattern was used, very ruff. No glow plugs, (they had a rack to hold open the exhaust valves) soft castings,(bell housing was cracked on one of them) poor grade bolts, renke dink injection pumps, (the plungers would stick in the bores and had to be polished to make them slide up and down). The generator electrial hook up was DEFINATLY not according to SPEC. Scarry. I could go on and on, but the price was right, He said.

Soooo, there are no Weiand manifolds or parts any more? Wow. I'm sorry to hear the company has gone down. Just like Plymouth, who stopped making cars in 1968. :D

As of September 28, 2009 Holley has filed for Bankruptcy Chapter 11 protection. Does that tell you why Weiand manifolds are now cast in China?

So are you really that surprised ???????
The only way to get them made in the USA again is NOT to BUY them now !

Remember if we the consumer don't buy foreign made products they can't sell them here. It's ultimately up to the consumer! Do the best you can and buy American made products or buy the good old used stuff if you can't find or afford an American made one.

Why? This isn't political, it's informative and a useful venue to those who want to learn about where hot rod parts are coming from, how the industry is trending with regard to sourcing, and want to make educated choices. I'd guess most of us here would like to continue buying American made hot rod parts, so what's wrong with discussing sourcing?

I used to be a Manufacturing Engineer for a company that decided to source out a bunch of their work to china, to get rid of the machinists.
It took about two shipments of mostly junk parts for the company to hire a bunch of inspectors to sort the good from the bad.
Bean counters had their way, the bosses got their bonuses, but the machinists are still out of work.
