We need a book , history of stock car racing on Long Island, maybe a photo history of drivers and cars.

I have some old seekonk photos from an open show in 1978. The lighting at the track wasn't too good so they came out dark. It was my first 35mm camera also. Back then, you had drivers from all over the east coast show up. Now Seekonk has an Open Wheel Wednesday show in the middle of the summer. Because it is not NASCAR sanctioned, not alot of drivers from the tour show up. It is mostly made up of the True Value Modified Series. Tour drivers were, Stenfanik, Pennick, Preese, and Christopher. Hossfield showed, but he mainly stays around the NY area.

A HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE !!!!

Can anyone dig up some pictures of Ray Liss at Flemington (NJ) in either his #10 coupe or especially on his #10 Gremlin bodied sportsman.

For awhile he & Joe Hall were in a FIERCE rivalry.

    THANKS MUCH!!!

I have a picture of Reggie getting launched from another angle. Pic is too dark to post though. The car underneath is the 2R.I. with Johnny Tripp driving. Seekonk Fall Classic 1978.

Not '78, I was shooting the event and I have the photo sequence of that wreck, I believe it was 81 or 82.

I believe this is Joe Ruttman at Trenton ROC. He had to change from the H to the 4 for scoring.

Great pictures. I Love old school racing. I worked as a kid at a garage in Southington Ct and they had the modified V0. I started work there and he was getting out of racing but the car was sold.

Hey Ken Schou, sorry I don't have any pictures of Ray or Joe, but speaking of a rivalry, one night at Flemington there was a grudge race between Joe and Ray at the end of the sportsman feature.

Ray Liss won the grudge race, but what was said before the race was neat. Ray said, I beat you in the heat, I beat you in the feature, I won the coin toss, now I'm gonna beat you in this race. And he did.

Just had another thought about Joe Hall. Flemington had a rule that if a sportsman driver won 3 features in a year, he had to advance to modified. Joe had won 2 features this one year, ? , but the joke with a few of the drivers' was that if I'm leading the feature and Hall is behind me, just before the checker I'm pullin over and let Joe win.
