I have a few gotta take some better pics Polished aluminum seat, hood and visor still working on the grill insert
I like it & fenders on it too! Nice looking chop. Looks like seat's not in it when your taking those trips down the street. Buddy took his down the street once with no seat goosed it and about thru him out the back window. funny but not funny it was.
what a great car!! i recently sold my 28 tudor. was gonna go for the same look channeled with fenders. but i never thought of bobbing the fenders like that. it makes the whole car and really goes with the nrf bars.. the 53 chev dash is awesome as well lotso chrome on it..i know theres alot of work in all the aluminum interior panels, but it doesnt go well with the rest of the theme of the car i would cover them with white tuck n roll.. thanks for the pics and vids i saved them dave
Awesome car! I've been looking at different directions to do a sedan and this is a great style with the 5" chop and channeled with fenders. Mine is a 28/29 body with 30/31 fenders. Not sure if I've got the skills or stamina for the channel though. Are your fenders 30/31 or 32? Great job! Dave R
Hey Dave For the channel I bent up a piece of 11 ga sheet for the floor and dropped the body down over the floor pan and welded it up. The support for the floor is welded level to the top of the chassis that way I lost no head room with the floor structure. Making the fenders 30/31 fit is a real pain in the butt. If your gonna run fenders you will have to move the rear wheel tubs(wells) up. Still working on the fenders then ill get them painted
Hey sounds pretty good when it stayed running.. That fender/ body fit looks bitchin! The height of the grille shell compared to the front fenders makes it look waaay channeled.
I agree with ya I was planing to finish the interior with a bit of red tuck and roll when funds allow. The panels were a lower cost alternative for right now. The car does look a bit different with the polished seat, hood and visor. Im thinking about powdercoating the panels. I appreciate the input
Great looking car. Did you really channel it? is the body below the tops of the frame rail? It kinda looks like the body is just sitting on top of the rails? If you did channel it how much, 2 inches? The fenders look like it has been lowered over the frame rails, but looking at the pics of the interior is does not look like it has been channeled. I would like to see more pics, a straight on side shoot for one of them.
Hi Donnie The body is channeled over the frame 4 ". The bottom of the body sits exactly even with the bottom of the frame heres a couple of bad pics. Im 5'8" on a good day and with the chop and channel I can sit directly on the floor and see perfectly out the window try that with a stock A.
Super sharp car. The more I see of it the more I like! It does look like the rear wheel wells are moved up about 4" to accommodate the channel. I'm assuming you had to remove the subrails and cross sills? How hard was it to fit the body down around the frame? My '29 is sitting on a '31 frame and it looks like it would be a tight squeeze to get the cowl to fit down over the frame. The nice thing is my '31 fenders bolt right up to my frame. Did you have to reposition the front axle at all (forward or back) or did the tires just fit up into the fenders perfectly with lowering? There's really a lot of nice detail and craftsmanship in your car, very nice work! If mine comes out anywhere near this nice I'll be very happy! Dave R
Dave I didnt remove the sub rails i trimmed the front of them though. I didn't use the original chassis it was beat i made the chassis loosley based on the original so the following may or may not work with a original. I measured the floor pan to be as wide as possible at the front cowl and cut everything around it to fit. Then it follows the subrails and finishes before the kick up in the rear 4". The body was slid back till there was a close fit between the cowl and the frame (really close) to get it to stock location then the rear tubs were made and the fenders were finally fit. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Sounds much, much better Man! Nice project! I did the same thing on my rides -- just enough wiring finished to drive it!
Thanks If it starts Im going for a ride you should have seen my last project I straped a gas can to it sat on a 2x4 and ran the throttle with a rope Please dont try this at home.
I think your dear wife is hooked , good job but that might pose a problem when the car is licenced . Nice when you have a supportive spouse. The car already looks great can wait to see it finished , a beautiful piece of work! Rob
I should have posted more often.I got it almost finished but the nights not over were goin to the turkey run.
