    65FordGuy,

Yeah, I think its that overall look, of just the right amount of fading to the red paint, the black wheels and tires with the big white walls and the white lettering on the door.
FWIW, I did a little research and it turns out the actual truck used on the opening sequences for that show was a '51 Ford.
So I was only off by, what, 14 years?...close enough! ;):D

May as well add the F100 that I purchased recently...

'64 Shortbox w/ '62 front clip (I think?), 292/3-speed, Mustang II front suspension with AirRide tubular control arms, Flaming River manual rack & pinion, coil-overs, flipped rear axle with C-notch.
Drove it back to Omaha from Houston, TX, and it ran great!

I have a 302/T-5 that I'm going to swap in and use the 292 for my Roadster project.
Will also be replacing the wheels/tires with the wheels in the photo below - 15x4 front, 15x8 rear.

That's a 1961 grille and header panel, note the grille says FORD and the header panel is clean. All 1962-1966 header panels say FORD and the grille is "clean"

    Nice start!

That photo was actually in Houston on Nov. 27th... I think gas in Omaha is $2.37 right now, though. :)

  17. Malcom that lil shorty is cool!

Heres a neat story for yous...
About a year and a half ago I was at a lil swapmeet here in town, there was a sign in the window of a guys chevy truck that said.. " 66 Mercury for sale, $500" So I took the number down and called it later that day. Talked to an old guy that said the truck was in a movie. Well we ended up buying the truck for $400, trailered it home. We went threw the truck and did the brakes, clutch etc. Made a call to the old guy and he told us it was in a Robert Redford movie. Did some searching and sure enough we found it. The truck is the one from the movie call "An unfinished Life" (kind of an ironic name eh!) The movie stars Redford, Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Lopez. It was filmed in Ashcroft BC, hence the Mercury truck! And was supposed to be in Wyoming. We bought the movie and have watched it a few times. It is definately the truck, were leaving it as is and its just a driver. Cool thing is is that J-Lo has driven it! We'll never wash the front seat ever! bawahahaha

this is it as we picked it up...

and my son giving it a bath....

Have any of you seen the movie? Its the one where Redford tries to steal the bear with the truck.

Gee thanks, that makes me feel so much better. ( ;) )

Seriously, that is a nice little truck, but you need to think harder about replacing the 292/3-speed with a 300/AOD.
THAT'S the ticket! (not that 302/T5 is "bad", neccessarily).

Anyway, good luck on your projects.

    Shiny,

What a cool story...AND YOU OWN IT!
I saw the movie when it came out on video and I remember it being a good one.
I'll have to rent it again, just to see the truck. ;)

I've linked the "Unfinished life" page from the Internet Movie Car Database website.
...I believe the pic on the right is your truck.
you should join that site, just so you can tell 'em you're the current owner....that'd flip 'em out. :D

...oh, and you're welcome. Used to be Seattle was "the place" for the movie crews to shoot at up this way, but I believe we've priced ourselves right out that market, so they moved down to Portland and up to BC.
    You folks seem more accomidating.
    Congradulations.

Here is my 64 I just got the other day. I should have it on the road in a month or so. It's a one owner with 84k original miles, been sitting covered up under a shed for the last 15 years or so.

It doesn't have any brakes, the carburetor is shot, and it looks like some kids put sand and dirt in the gas tank.... just a few minor problems and it should be back on the road.

lol. if sand and dirts all ya got your ok.. rust is bad.. My tank had so much it sounded like loose gravel in it.. when I pulled it out and uncorked it.. I about got knocked over by the stinch of old gas and whatever else was ferminting in there.

attached some pics of my progress from today... got my gas door mounted in.. used an 80s lincoln fuel door mechanism. This is in my new (90s Dodge) floor.

    the tank underneath..

Once I get my spray in bed liner in.. you will barely be able to see it.. debating a finger pull.. but I like the stealthyness as it is.
