Well, last night I did! 56'Merc Montaclair, and '52 Cadillac CDV are going down the road!

I've waited for years to be able to by my dream car, in any condition. Last night, I made a deal for one. This basically means that I will have to start completely over on a build.

Anyone else do this, or am I as crazy as my better half thinks?

If I go to China for two years will be selling everything to pay off the mortgage whilst I am away. Then starting again when I have access to tools, shed and time.

I sometimes randomly think that I'll sell everything, Then I thankfully sober up!

  6. Been there & done that. About 12 years ago I traded my 69 Z/28 for a 96" stroker Harley Shovelhead, sold my racecar, gave all my car parts to my kid & started collecting vintage Triumph motorcycle parts in hopes of starting a British bike shop. Came to my senses about 5 years ago & bought a 67 Camaro project car & a 57 Bel Air project. Sold the last of the Triumph stuff this past summer * spent the money on the last few things I needed for the Camaro. In the Spring it should be done & the 57 can come inside the shop. I'm 53 and finally realised I'm not gonna live long enough to build everything I want to build.

so what is it? Hate I missed out on the caddy but glad you got the dream car!

Will never sell them all--I just bought back and started the rebuild on my first car (it was also my dad's first rod and went through a housefire when I was 6 months old--gas tank exposion saved my life)--that one's in the never sell again category. otherwise they're all disposable--there's too many out there I still want to build or own. all the best

John, nice is a relative term! They're real nice when finished, but this one is a builder. The cars I'm selling are in better shape.

Dream car is a '58 Impala convertible. No pics yet, but I'll post a build thread when I get it home.

Not really cars, but I was thinking about selling my vintage toy collection a few years back and using the money to build an A Model roadster pickup. I priced the basic stuff from Brookville and got sticker shock. $10000.00 just in a frame and the sheetmetal. Then the economy tanked and toy values fell like stocks.....so I still have my collection.

Well, I accidentally sold nearly all my car projects the other month! I have a crappy one-car garage that's too full of stuff to actually get a car into, so thought I'd try and sell some stuff off to fund a new one. A couple of smaller (i.e. cheaper) projects went, but that didn't raise enough cash. Then, after 3 months of nothing, three people contacted me on consecutive days, and by the following Sunday my '34 Tudor, my '55 pickup and a 'glass T-bucket project were sold. It happened so quickly, and as I work on the basis of it's not sold until I have the cash in my hand, it caught me on the hop!

So, if anyone else is clearing out their stable, I might now have enough to get me a reasonable 5-window Coupe...

I'm in the process. I'm trying to clear things out to make room for something I really want.

Today. As it is -6 and warm dreams of SoCal are running rampant through my mind. I could sell all and buy a VW Westy and live on the beaches of SoCal.

  17. 58 Impala convertible is a suitable dream car, worth giving up the other two.

Good luck with it and get pics up here asap.:D

I sold my cherry old '40 Tudor a couple of months ago and will sell my '32 Tub when I get it switched over to a different chassis but I usually don't sell anything. But since I retired two months ago and am moving to Arizona as soon as my house sells, I need to thin the herd just a little, down to thirteen. And that will be a lot to move. If I ever sold my entire collection I could never afford to buy them all back.

I have always been sort of a car hoarder. Then I realized I would not have enough time left to do all the projects I bought over the years. So I started selling some off a couple of years ago.I will most likely only keep five or six.Even that is too many to redo at my age,but maybe my kids will want them.Problem is....last year I bought two more! Its a sickness, guys.Sell them all if you want, but you will probably just buy more if they are still available. One will never be enough.

Bye the way. I sold some nice cars years ago. Mostly buick regals and mustangs that where real nice. Kinda hard to bring myself to sell my cutlas and 52 chevy. Would love to get a 55-57 chevy truck or belair.

Haha! Did the same thing with my HD's- Never again! Had 5 pans and shovels, and thought I wanted something newer. I'll always regret it.

But this is different- isn't it?

  29. Never! I'm havin' trouble just selling one so I can get on with my FED build. :p It's not just money I need the space.

I tell people on a regular basis no the 5w is not for sale. Better than my washed out stock. My will leaves it to my son in the event of sudden death.. If I live as long as my older brother has I may have to sell to pay for health care...Now the cut down panel is a different story.
