I just started playing bass a year ago. I'm in a band called Mid-Life Crisis with a few other 40 year old dudes. We're actually playing our second gig tomorrow. www.myspace.com/moonbeamrays

I play a gibson victory standard and a dean edge through a Kustom 200 head on a SVT 8x10. I also have a univox hi-flyer, a kramer dmz, and a teisco.

BTW, I read through this and had Cabs "yesterday's gone" ep in high school. Cool shit.

I play at playing guitar. I'm left handed so instrument choices are narrow. I have a Fender Pro-Tone and a Bass.

Aren't you afraid for your life?
I thought there was a bounty offered somewhere on accordion players.

My current set up. Epi Casino and 66 Fender Bandmaster. Speakers are early seventies Fender PA135 cabs.

    Attached Files:

  7. Rick model 4003.. Anything more that 4 strings confusses me...

  8. I bought a set of drums a few months ago....can't say that I can play them very well yet....I play about as good as Breeder at 11pm on the Sat of the Rust Revival.

  9. I have a guitar my Mom left me when she passed. An archtop semi acoustic double cut back, sort of F holes (but not quite). It plays very easy and has good sound for pickin, I have been told it is an Ephione Casino. Tail piece (Chromed metal) holding the strings says Made in Germany. I dont really know much about guitar manufacturers. Always bought what I have for the sound and how it played. Would you recognize one from a photo?

After 25 years off stage, my musical career came out of remission in 2009. I still have the old stuff from the 70's, but now play only acoustically in galloway (ricknco.com). Currently using a Tacoma Papoose (A tuned), but also am using a 25 yr old Aria Dreadnaught and keyboards. Anybody have any opinions on CA (Composite Acoustics)guitars?

Two custom Strats, Vintage Warlock and a Mockingbird, I built my own "V" and a cheap Les Paul knock-off.(everybody needs one they bring to the shows that might not come out so well.) I have a couple acoustics, too. I have an old Vantage Bass and my new Ibanez Bass. My guitar rig is a crate head (P.O.S.) with a Boss GT-6 to help the sound a bit. Now that I'm playing bass, I'm not too worried about the sound of my guitar stuff. I'm running a Peavy Bass amp, but can't remember what model. Not that it matters much for the music I make.....

I play guitar and sing ,did a couple of LPs in the eighties, still jam a little in the Austin area. I am hard to classify, but John Fogarty, Dan Hicks, and Joe South were all influences.

I've been playing an instrument since grade 3. Drums, Guitar, Bass, Strings, and have been a DJ for a few years. Like standing on the loud pedal or pullin the skirt off some little young miss, there's a huge thrill in watching a crowd go nuts for your music. Cars and music go together like long legs and big titties. You could have 'em seperate, but why would you want to?

I've played my whole life, still do occasional gigs when they arrive, lead vocals, guitar, harmonica. I play rockabilly, blues, older country, pretty much anything that catches my ear. Have a custom shop Signature Strat, Blues Junior amp and Taylor acroustic at the moment.

Keyboards and piano, learned as a kid and then took 40 years off. Been playing again in blues and classic rock bands for about 7 years now. Actually make money that I can use to buy hot rod stuff. http://www.myspace.com/fortyyearslater

I play guitar and make a good attempt at singing in a little rock-n-roll outfit called The Tell Tale Signs. 60's garage-punk-blues stuff and the like. Click HERE for some free tunes and pics of a few of the most handsome devils this side of the globe.

I also work as a luthier in a vintage repair/restoration shop and build my own guitars and amps.

    Can't imagine life without music.
Been playing and listening to music all my life.
Started making my own designs of guitars and tube amplifiers in the early 90s.

1956 Hofner 12-string jumbo acoustic tuned to DADGAD, and an old Silvertone electric with strat guts and alot of fretwork of my own. Its tuned to open D for slide, and I can put a capo on for open E. I am not real good, can't see real well anymore and some arthritis, but I still play a little every day. I used to get out and play with other players, but I have had some kind of mental breakdown that has made me really shy. I don't get out much.

206 posts and only two damn banjo players, I'd better add my bluegrass two cents worth. Over the years, I've been in and out of half a dozen bluegrass bands, two country groups and one polka band all on four or five string banjo.
That's me in back with the big hair and the five string about 20 years ago.
Nowadays I sit in occasionally with a group called The Free and Worth It Band. We try to live up to our name.

Thanks! - Your vintage style guitars and amps inspired me to post.
Glad to see another luthier and tube amp guy around here.

When I first discovered this site, I knew there had to be a lot of guitar players and musicians amongst all the creative and skilled hot rodders.
I only noticed this thread just now - very cool and inspiring!

My first stringed instrument was a Bluesgrass 5-string banjo, when I was a teen.
Haven't owned one in a while, but I always pick one up, whenever I come across one and still today, I play the guitar fingerstyle, acoustic or electric.

Picked up the guitar when I was 9-was die hard serious with that and cars up until I was about 15, then cars took over the majority of my attention, but I still kept up with the studies until I went to college. Now I just like playing and jamming-there'll be more time to learn more when I get older. I'm classically trained and blues trained, but I really like playing vintage rock, surf rock, and my forte is metal-really fast and complex stuff. I like old and modern guitars. I have a esp flying v I heavily modified through a Marshall JCM-900 half stack I used to do show with. My favorite set up. I also have a jackson randy rhodes V, a strat, a jasmine acoutic and an old gibson acoustic, and a crate and peavy 12" practice amps. That along with way too many effects pedals. I love playing and creating new songs. Just a nice way to chill out sometimes-plus girls dig it!

Maybe that's why I do it.
Most of the really good ones are already dead.
