If the letterer was experienced you got a steal. You could get a new kid on the block working his way up and has to adjust their price according to experience. This industry is no different than any other, you could get a price for your work for $750, or $150 like you paid, or $50....... All have their reasoning for their prices.

You should have no problem getting script in vinyl, ready for you to install at a local shop. There are a lot of chains out there, Mr Sign, Fast Signs, Sign O Rama, Signs Now. Just check your phone book. Good luck.......

Truck was built in 1956 and painted to match the 1955 Belair then was stripped and lettered in 1956. Then parked in 1961 in a garage were we pulled it out a few years ago.:D We call the truck Krause / Woodpecker

Here's a set of doors I pulled off a 56 Ford F250 that was retired from the local auto parts store here in El Cajon. The "E&M Auto Parts" lettering is so faded that you can't see it in these pics...I imagine that Victor paid for the lettering in exchange for the advertising. The doors are in great shape, I just need to find a project to use them on...

  20. Funny he's done all my carshow signs for the last 25 plus years........

  21. Never really considerd myself a sign painter but I've been doing them since the 70's. Back in the day while I was building my striping clientele, I did lot's of show cards, wreckers, racecars, trucks, boats, etc. But I really started painting billboards first. Good way to learn how to handle stress.

The Lone Star signs I did last year for a 34 1-ton. My old blue '64 I did in '80 with gold leaf. Learned real fast you cannot do leaf in the wind.

I think this craft is making a return as is everything artisan. People are learning that if you gonna spend money, may as well spend it on the rea; deal.

Old school on one side, Modern on the other...........they both look great.... I just can't bring myself to do that. I can't break away from that mold of all the same. I notice a few shop trucks done like yours, the work is great....I just have troible dealing with the concept.
