I remember the jingle as well. I haven't seen Ballentine in a long time. Is it still around?

 

Ballantine beer and ale were made in Newark, NJ - in the sixties they were acquired by Falstaff and outsourced – I think PBR bought it in the 2000’s and it’s being brewed by Miller now. Talk about a change of ownership!
Mel Allen the Yankee’s announcer was Ballantines pitchman for years – the 3 ring sign – purity, body & flavor!

 

I have the 1941 South Bend Lathe out of the Ballantine factory. My grandfather had purchased it through someone he knew that worked there (probably in the 60's when they were bought out) and it has been in his garage ever since, until I moved it to my shop just last week! How ironic.

 

remember Piels beer? The piels brothers burt & harry, who i think where bob & ray. And Rheingold!" my beer is rhiengold the dry beer, think of rhiengold whenever you buy beer".I think they still make Rhiengold.

Baseball and the 'American' League's future held in the balance.
It was a rousing success with the working class watching teams made up of working class athletes.
My father, a teenager, was there.

I hadn't thought about Piels beer in years, but I sure recall it and the Burt & Harry commercials.

The other beer that I remember from the early sixties was Schaffers. Maybe it is still around? "...the one beer to have, when you're having more than one."
