  4. I saw him putting on a show at Limerock Park in CT not too many years ago at a Bush North race that was sponsored by the New England Dodge Dealers. Is that the running truck and is it still doing shows ?

Yeah, gotta be the same car...here's a pic from the Dec. '67 issue of Hot Rod...caption says :
"This Wildcat S/XS dragster with the Buick Gran Sport appearance culminates the efforts of New York's Five Boro Buick Dealer Group to stimulate performance-enthusiaist identification. The "Ingenue's" 360 horses, (at 5000rpm), are produced by Buick's new 430-cube mill.
Brooklyn Speed and Machine Company, builder's of the 1,900 pound dragster, fabricated a special main bearing support to meet torque and horsepower requirements on the strip.
A specialty cast aluminum timing chain cover allows the magneto to drive from the front of the Crane cam.
Oil and fuel pumps are crankshaft driven via a Gilmer timing belt. Enderle fuel injection system, and Mickey Thompson pistons and rods are also employed.
The Buick Super Turbine 400 trans, (modified), and Buick ring and pinion differential, as well as Positraction gears, are utilized.
Airheart disc brakes on the rear and a 16-foot 'chute keep the Wildcat under control.
The more than three months of effort plus $15,000 construction cost are positive proof that the Buick Dealers Group and Brooklyn Speed and Machine really would rather have..."

    I've never heard of a "S/XS" class...what was that?

This is a link to a thread on another site about this car -

    http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/424944/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1

World's only Buick-powered Buick Funny Car constructed by my dad at his shop Brooklyn Speed & Machine in 1967.

Ron Peligrini owner of Fiberglass Limited in Chicago owned the only other Buick-bodied F/C (run under the Chicago Buick Dealers Group banner) that made it to the track but his was Chrysler Hemi-powered and was later destroyed in a on-track accident...it is believed that only 2 Skylark bodies were ever constructed but there are rumors a third body was created.

My dad is still with us and is eager to see his old car again. We need him to re-create the front timing cover to accept a magneto like he did 42 years ago.
Car ran a 8:71 blown 430 buick backed by a TH-400 trans prepped by Vitar.Rear was out of a Wildcat w/3.90 gears.
    Car ran a best of 7.79 @ 191mph.

Guys...I'm just beside myself with joy, really, really happy to have the opportunity to own this time capsule that means so much to us. [IMG]

A true hot rod archeological find .If this car were sitting restored at a show I'd probably look at it for 5 minutes and move on....sitting the way it is I could stare at it for hours. It's crazy but I'll bet most HAMBers would agree.

[IMG] This is a photo I took at the Connecticut Nostalgia Night about 7 or 8 years ago. Bob Swanson owned the car, but I think has since sold it. He is on the HAMB 37 Kid...
