Bigger problem is how to get 3-window Larry out of your attic? Tell him there is some 32 parts in the driveway. Works every time.

Stories around here of them ripping roof shingles off trying to get in houses.

    I heard antifreeze works.

Another one is a plastic dish with water on a metal sheet. 110v on the sheet and in the water. When they take a drink it closes the circuit and lights them up.

Helped a friend clean out a garage he had been letting goats run in and out of for shelter. Nastiest mess I have ever seen and I used to be a dairy farmer! Smells like a goat is a true statement.

Racoons, like many wild animals, serve as a host animal to a parasite which lives in their intestinal track. It exits in the animal's feces and can live for great periods outside the animal in a dormant state. If picked up by chance and ingested, it will come to life and immediately begins to multiply inside the new host. In a recent case, broadcast on the Discovery channel, a baby picked up this parasite while crawling on the ground. The theory being that the child got some feces on it's hands and then stuck it's fingers in it's mouth. In this case the parasite multiplied and entered the child's brain where it began to eat his brain tissue! The Dr's figured it out but when treated the parasites give off a toxic fluid which nearly killed this little kid. He survived, but is mentally challenged.
So beware when you come into a racoon's habitat. If it were me I would enlist the help from your local game warden as they most likely would know how to treat this area .
And as a last note, if you become ill and the Dr's can't seem to diagnose your problem you might want to mention that you had a close encounter with a racoon habitat and get checked for a parasite infection.

A few years ago I lived in a pallet shack (no joke, I got a picture of it) and I had a lot of issues with snakes finding their way into my shack. One night I got ready to go to bed and I sat down on my cot. I then heard an extremely loud hissing noise. I had just sat on a big thick black snake about two feet long. That snake hissed so loud my ears rang. I wound up getting up on a chair like a little girl because the shack door only opened from the outside and I couldn't get the window open fast enough to get my arm outside.

Later that same summer I got a free mobile home and a free stray cat. The cat sorta adopted itself. Anyway there was a hole in the floor of the mobile home for the plumbing that was just large enough for the cat to get in and out of. One night I awoke to what I thought was my cat happily chowing down on some cat food. I got up and found the cat in my bed. A big fat raccoon snuck into my house through the hole and decided to help itself to my cat food. I chased it out of the house and as far as I know other than a bird it was the only non-domestic animal in my house (other than pesky mice).

The place I live in now had a squirrel problem above the kitchen. I used to see those big tree rats crawling up in the attic though the holes in the ceiling. One day I decided to wait for the******* and aimed my pellet rifle at one of the many holes. Sure enough it starts scurrying about. I got a gut shot in and the squirrel was dead. But not without splattering a bunch of blood all over the kitchen floor. I cleaned up the blood but I had to go to work. There was no heat in the kitchen (It was blocked off from the rest of the house) so when I came back to retrieve the squirrel out of the hole in the ceiling it was super stiff. I also shot a bat in my house and tried shooting a rather large ground hog in the basement with my deer rifle (missed).

A good safe way to kill wasps is with a dish soap water solution heavy on the soap. They breath through their skin . Throw the mix on them and they suffocate.:D I know not a racoon story. mice and racoons are nasty . The mice mess up combine cabs and truck seats.

Check your homeowners insurance policy. Typically your home is not covered for damage done by a varmint. This would include raccoons, squirrels, rats, etc. who chew wires and burn your house to the ground.

My shop is a 90 year old barn with updates. 24 x 36, with the back 12' as a later addition. The front 24 x 24 has a concrete floor, but the back has a dirt floor. I can either put money into my car or the barn... car first! Anyways, I am at war with some woodchucks. They got into my wiring harness (new, and about to be my next step) and stole all of the paperwork, and some of the bags. Twice he has come at me at a dead run up the driveway and went around me to the back when the door was open. I am not a gun owner, but that may change!

i removed these two recently from my attic. i don't feel bad at all for them either, they are nasty, destructive animals. i've heard that something like 90% of them are rabid too.

I've got skunks invading my property. showed up last spring, sprayed my dog what an ordeal that was. I had the stinky little*****er trapped, and relocated, and now I have another one trying to set up a home

Last spring I had a bunch of birds move into my shop. The only effective method I found to get rid of them was a bb gun. I tried scaring them, throwing stuff at them, leaving loud obnoxious music on 24/7 in hopes they'd get annoyed and move out...nothing. The bird***** all over the place was annoying enough, but I had to take serious action when they started dive bombing me every morning. My shop is two stories with no second floor, so they could get way up in the rafters to get away from me. Friggin annoying.
