Owned this bucket about 25 years ago. Ran a 272 with home made intake and 6 x2's

Had the wildest heads I have ever seen. The centre divider on the intake ports had been removed. They came off a race boat. Ran a 4 speed.

That thing was fast. Sold it in a moment of weakness.

It also ran twin sidedraft webers on a home made tunnel ram at one stage. I spent a fortune on those webers but it went much better with the 6 x 2's

I have some pics with the webers somewhere. I will post them when I find them.

This was one of the first fire ups. It now has Mercury covers on it and runs alot smoother. Great engines with tons of torque for sure.

    Thank you,

Here's my '55 Merc 292 in my '56 Fairlane. Need to work on the MERCURY lettering, an original '55/'56 Olds batwing-style aircleaner is being mod'd to fit on the 4100 carb, along with other stuff - it's in process but getting close:

Here is the 312 we built for my wife's Fairlane. Old pictures - hope to have it on the road this summer, and by then it should be looking much better. - Speed

The T as in post #94. I found up an old photo album over Xmas.

First with the home made intake and twin Weber carbs. Cost me a fortune in tuning but never ran right.

I later cut up the intake and remade it as a six carb intake. Lot of work but it not only looked good it ran good as well.

Last pic shows the difference between the original heads and the modified heads. Note the complete removal of the centre divider. These heads also had bigger valves. They came off a race boat.

For an old Y Block that motor ran real strong. Had a lot of fun in that car.
