Am rereading Burt Levy's "The Last Open Road" and was reminded of this one:

1952 Cunningham C4RK - Chrysler Hemi powered. Probably the meanest looking/sounding racer I've ever seen.

Speaking of Mini Marcos, a face, body, rear end only a mother could love.

When I saw that pic, I thought it was this car.
    Right before the impact.

I watched the Ghost at the 1971 Lime Rock Trans Am. Seeing that 64 Tempest do battle in the rain with cars seven years newer was magic.

And here I thought Gremlin bodies came out of the factory mounted on dirt modified chassis. :D

Cute little fellers, ain't they? (In a "Jesus! Is that a car!?!" kinda way. ;) )

Those 6 cylinder Gremlin cars made between 275/300 hp with a 500cfm 4bbl. Weighted 2800 lbs, ran BFG radials.

Jimmy B, I have never seen a yellow Bugatti everyone I have seen is Petty Blue for lack of a better description. I am in love the Type 35 is my all time favorite car. Last time I was in Indy I spent 20 min. just looking at the one on display. My dad (a hot rodder) and my brother (races drag bikes) thought there was something wrong with me lol.

That's French Racing Blue, though it can be anything from a pale sky blue to an electric mid-blue. Before it was all sponsorship, European racing cars were painted according to where they came from: Britain had a dark green, Italy red, Germany silver, Belgium yellow. Later a Scottish team claimed a dark blue-black for Scotland. When racing in Europe it was the convention for American cars to be painted white.

Bridgehampton 1967 just entering turn 12 at the head of the main straight. That's the million dollar view of Peconic bay in the background.

    Picturesque indeed.
