it was in an issue of LOWRIDER MAGAZINE in the mid 90's i remember seeing a picture of it. as far as which issue i don't recall sorry. and yes it was fully chromed but i forgot who built it but it only had small old pics of it. but it was brought up because of the feature lowrider bike which was a bit of a clone.

Of course, don't you know? Barris built all the TV cars. Just ask him.

It is discussed in one of the Von Dutch books- and the bike was later part of the Jim Brucker Movieworld Cars collection. Aaron Kahan has the original Von Dutch painted show card for that bike from Movie World.

  14. I just got off the phone with Aaron who has an immense amount of Dutch, Roth, Barris inside dope rolling around in his head. After interviewing Bird Betz for the Von Dutch book here is the story in short. Dutch and Skip Barret built the bike for the show, and it was obviously put on display by Barris through the years due to his connection to the Munsters via the Munster Coach. Funny thing was, as Bird told it, that he saw the bike being built as a boy, and thought it was for him, but it went on to be Eddie Munsters bike. He remembers Dutch welding chain links for the frame. Oh yeah, by the way, this is not meant to feed a Barris bashing post. Also, as Jim said, Aaron scored the Dutch painted museum sign that stood in front of the bike at Brucker's Museum from the Von Dutch auction awhile back.

This is the first time I've seen a pic of the bike on scene, and never in an episode, but I saw it before it went to the TV studio.

It was built in the Roth shop and Ed's 2nd oldest son, my old bud Dennis, came riding it to elementary school one morning and showed it off. He was always the BMOC to me, but especially that day.

It was black painted chain then, not gold or whatever it became. So maybe it continued to evolve before the shootings. I remember the chain frame, tassels, and spider web windscreen, but not the cool seat.

It supposedly was only seen in promos for the show.
