    Hey Fritz,
What Doug is telling you is most likley the cheapest way to go and should give you plenty of room for a dec. tire size. Several Falcon owners have done this with good results.

I have a 63 2 dr sedan with an 8.8 rear out of a 95 Cobra and the prev. owner had Moser cut it to 55 3/4. It has 7" drag lights on the rear and 235/60/15 tires with no tire rub. The spring purches are in the same stock location so after the cut it is a direct bolt in. The 70s Mav.- Comet rear has the same spring location as your stock rear end. The only diff. will be to use the correct shock plates and u-bolts for the 8' rear(67-
70 Mustang or Granada) Just to name a few. The 8' is strong enough for good power. My 95 Cobra eng. Is making 350-400 hp and as yet no problems. I do crank down on it at times with good results.

    Also......

What REALLY matters is what wheel/backspace you are planning on using. There is no problem bolting in a stock granada 8 inch rear with a steel wheel that has a deep backspace (6 inch wheel with a 4 inch backspace). The problem I experienced is trying to using a mag wheel which come only as deep as 3 3/8 inch backspace on a 6 inch wheel.

    Correct Doug,
I ment to add that. I am in the land of NAS car so rear end chop is not real expensive(around 200.00 to 225.00) Thats also cutting Axels and re-splineing them.

No disrespect - but re-read the thread and you'll see that deep backspace is precisely the problem I'm trying to solve. The rear wheels are noticeably shallower (on the outer side) than the fronts and I want to run dog dish caps so I want the rears to be a bit deeper (outer side) and wider than the fronts.

But I ALSO re-read your post about taking .75" off each side and that really is the easiest and cheapest way to go.

No problem.... but what size wheel do you want to run ? What is the width and backspacing ? You can buy steel wheels with just about any backspacing you want.
