Every time I open a thread about '55's I start dreaming about "the one that got away". Your is about the same shape as my last one and it turned out to be a great car that I should never have parted with. Keep us up to date on the build. Frank
Hey a sketchy '55 beats the hell out of no '55! Those are great cars. My cousin has his dads old '55 that he drove to high school, it'll fly!
Ha I think your right on track with dam the torpedos full speed ahead. When you know what you want and can see a way to make it happen you have to go for it. Other wise your wasting everyones time. Keep it going! Ron
Hey Frank........hard to believe you have any more room for a 55 last time I was at your shop or should I say "museum of kool" .....you already have a pile of bitchin rides brother but I must say......knowing you....you'll have another one my friend.....lol. 8FLEET9....the motor is looking good!
here's a before & after of my lil 305 got a nice new set of fenderwell headers today also got my alternator bracket squared away. i modified the lower mount from the caprice and bolted it right to the head. i also added a spacer to a short water pump style long arm bracket for the adjustment. the clutch that came on my 283 (that came with this shitbox) looks good enough to use for a season or two. just need a throwout bearing.
i love how you kept the eyes on the hood looks killlllerrr man !!! along with that fine ass powerplant
your kikin ass man!! whers rich in all this mess?? hes a lowrider, and underground hot rod guy too! im watching this project enthusiatically... dave
richie? with the 64 impala and that beat 47 ford? i cruise with him all the time. haha. thanks for all the kind words guys! helps to keep me motivated. now that the pat's seasons over that's a whole extra day a week to wrench on this pile.
Just found this thread. Looking forward to watching it come together. Man I wish I would have found a 55 to cut up!
will do dave. so the clutch and flywheel off of my 283 looks good enough to get this thing goin down the road. mounted it along with the bell housing to the motor today. saturday the cars coming in for the weekend, gonna prep the engine bay and firewall and depending how long all that cleaning and painting takes possibly drop in the drivetrain. but we'll see how that goes or how hung over i am on sunday.
Hey whats up Dave. Im still around. Question is, where you been bruddah? & mike, whaddya mean geat 47? Ya jerk!
hey rich.. i lost your number! im here shits been crazey! gimme a shout! 978 538 9792 and give this kid a hand with this 55!!!
Got it man! I'll give u a ring. You goin to the "Nostalgia Fes" in Hudson or the Big E this weekend? & yes, this 55 is gonna be pissa! hah No shit. It's ok though. Gonna try & start pulling it next weekend if I can. Simple rebuild should serve her well...
test fit of the motor today. seeing as it hasn't had a drivetrain since i've owned it, i figured i should check out how it all goes together. seems the aftermarket front mounts that came with this shit box don't fit, must be for a big block. so i made them fit. turned them around, drilled new holes, and added some more material to drill a hole through. tomorrow i'll finish cleaning and painting the engine bay now that i know it'll all fit back together.
engine compartment is nicely detailed. waiting on a carb & distributer to drop it back in fo-real. should both be here this week, then onto interior (seats) & wiring.
spent way too much time getting a set of seats i don't particularly care for mounted in this pile today. did a bunch of seam sealing on patch panels. and did a lil painting on the floor. the gloss black on the part of the floor that will be covered by the front seats is my only sign of progress today...not even worth a pic. staying late monday and getting the interior fit for human habitation.
today i fabbed up a mount for the clutch z-bar out of plate. i just gotta make up a bushing for the pedal rod to z-bar mount & i should have a working clutch.
