I will post more details in a day or so. However, here are more pictures (sorry amateur photos) of Richie's Hal motor and independent rear end for his speedster project (38 pics):

Beautiful job man this is going to be a nice car when done . I like the 1938 or 1939 Lincoln Zephyr transmission.

    Thanks

NICE! He's been turning out great cars for many years, the CRAGAR powered T Tub was one of my favorites.

This is Richie Willetts speedster project (of Willett Coachworks in the Boston area).
I took the pictures in his shop.

  16. I took these pics about a year and a half ago. I'm pretty sure this is the speedster that this HAL motor is going in. I'm sure Ritchie has made more progress on the body and chassis also.

Just what are we looking at here? May be a Dayton wire wheel, but what is the deal with the 5 lug wheel center with the small bolt holes on the back? Fender mount bracket? [IMG]

    Looks absolutely stunning!

But I gotta ask...how is he setting up the Clevis ends to prevent wear as the IFS articulates? They LOOK like normal clevis ends with no room for brass or nylon washers and bushings to be used as replaceable wear points.

Might have a thin brass bushing or something pressed into the plate of the uprights I guess.
Guys who build at this level are like watchmakers! :D

I met Richie a few years ago, what an honor that was. A true craftsman. When you see him, please tell him I said hello!

I do believe I have never seen anything so beautiful and imaginative from a single person. I saw Richie's Red Touring at the L A Roadster show a couple of years ago. I couldn't get to close, but believe it also had an independent rear axle. Beautiful engineering !

Richie builds some KILLER shit :p

  26. Here's a couple pics of some older stuff that Richie did.The Tub at the Petersen and the Ty-Rods show;another T speedster he did back in the late 70's and a Model A highboy he did in the early 70's.
I met him in 1959 when he had his Olds powered 32 5 window that I think Don Burley still owns.Don bought it from Richie in the early 70's and all he did was put fresh gas and a battery in it and drove it all around.Even put a turtle top container on it and drove to the Street Rod Nationals in Detroit in 73 or 74 with his two kids in the rumble seat.
Say hello to the,"Admiral" when you see him for me.
