Jesus Christ....it turned into a freakin hair salon in here for minute, haha. Good luck on the 32. Nothing is too far gone when you have ambition, metal, a welder, and an imagination.

great buy...........you will never regret buying it. I have always been attracted to the bottom of the barrel cars and have endured my share of criticism and jokes about it. That old ford metal is thick and soft and you can beat on it forever and never wear it out. Because its a real 3 window every improvement will make it worth more(sweat equity). I am confident you can do it and many hambers are standing beside you to cheer you on. This 3 window is one of the most sought after of all the old fords. Its an old car that was bought in 1932 by someone and managed to survive all those years. You did good. Steve

I don't think that phrase means what you think it means.

  7. That is a GREAT buy. No way in hell you could buy one cheaper anywhere today. For guys not into '32s it may seem expensive but it's already started to appreciate. Hell, I wanted a '32 roadster and pissed around buying other '32 stuff because I couldn't find a real steel one. Ended up with a '32 RPU cowl, one of less than 600 (numbers vary, another story). Wasn't really keen on it to begin with but I've really warmed up to it thanks to some influences here on the HAMB and a really cool build plan. It's ONLY a cowl but it'll be a fairly accurate RPU using a roached closed cab rear panel and modified closed cab doors. I've got about $2600 into all my original parts for it and there's one hell of a lot less in my stash than what Dan has right there. AND I'm thrilled with what I have for the money I spent. According to some highly knowledgeable industry pros who deal with this stuff daily, when it's done (as long as I do it right) the cab alone will be worth more than a Brookville 3W - BY FAR.

$5000 for a rough, salvagable, REAL '32 3W? I'd call that the buy of Dan's life.

Dan, the only thing that counts, YOU OWN A '32 3WINDOW!!!!! Fuck those guys, its 2009!!! The only way to get it cheaper - is to steal it.
And its way better to get a rusty non cut original body, than one of those messed up ugly Rods that were build with no skill!!!
Rather pay 5k and build it your own way and call it your car, than buy some brookville car and let it build from some garage.
you paid 5k, so you will handle it with care!!! and thats the most important thing on a 32!!!! let those stupid people talk. Everybody who knows how to weld, hammer and grind will fix that car. So Fuck 'em and show 'em how its done!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Never forget, supply and demand establishes the price. But, 5K is pretty strong for that little pumkin! Good luck and keep "HAMMERING"!

    Congrats...Missed this thread....Great find!

  16. This will make it more interesting on this build. I talked to Dan last night, he's going to try and use ALL Henery steel on this body, no aftermarket pieces.

This reminds me of a good line I once heard, "It's like taking the wrinkles out of a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil.". :D

I just picked up the frame. Its not as bad as I thought it would be. I will need to replace the kickup in the rear and the rear horns. But It really is a savable frame. Will post pictures tonight.

  21. Although I'm six months late to this thread, CONGRATULATIONS for bringing one of Henry's finest back from the grave! For being just 20 years old and you are already on your second Deuce, and it's a 3W besides, that's unreal! Since no one else has invited you to join the HAMB Deuce Club and DOG (Deuce Owners Group), I am now because you REALLY belong over there with the rest of us Deuce NUTS (actually ADDICTS)! I guess some guys (like muscle car insurance agents) just don't get it. A beat up 3W with solid metal will be worth $5000 any day of the week. Last fall I was at an auction (see this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401985&highlight=norfolk+3w) where a rolling 3W went for $48K! You got a bargain and will get a Masters Degree in metalworking for FREE as a bonus! Good solid metal, no matter how beat up, is always saveable and you are to be commended for knowing that and snapping it up. I didn't think there were many young guys left that had the dream and the ambition to work hard for something they love, no matter how long it takes. Nowadays it seems like everyone wants it right now and aren't willing to work hard for it. Our hobby, no our OBSESSION is in good hands with young guys like you!

P.S. Take it from me, you won't be able stop with just ONE!

Lets face it...A good challenge is still better than fiberglass. Real steel is the real deal! Im glad to see this one getting a chance to cruise again. Don't forget to stock that garage fridge!

If anyone knows of a 66-67 chevy II (nova) just the body, Dan has an add on craigslist looking for a smashed up and rusty body. There is one in a little rougher shape than his 32 three window that he it trying to cut a deal on. PM him, or post on here with any leads.
