After a thread earlier today concerning lake style header baffles I decide to show how to do some for 20 bucks in less than an hour. First go and get yourself a Thrush or Cherry Bomb Cut it right in the center. Then come in a bit from the cone and cut the outer shell from your two pieces. Make sure you leave about 2 inches of shell before it steps in. this is critical for installing it into the pipe. Remove the fiberglass . It will be burned out fairly quickly any way. Continued
I used some self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the baffle in the pipe. This will make the easy to remove if you like going to the track. Then go do a huge burnout Without baffles With baffles
The value of burned out Cherry Bomb muffflers just went through the roof. Nice way to quiet down a lakes header system.
I had thought of this before, but with a bit of a twist and that was to cut the inlet side and also cut it at the base (so remove the rounded countoured area), then slide up as far as it would go and rosette weld it in place from the outside. Of course this would not be removable like yours. Nice idea. I'm also curious how much quieter it is.
Cool. I bought a cheap-o set of glasspacks off ebay to cut up for just such an application. Should be enough to just take the edge off.
I like this idea too, seems like a little back pressure would be an added bonus, I have the baffle that have the three rings with holes in them and I doesn't do much, they're still purdy loud.
It makes it tolerable to drive. With no baffles it's painful. I have driven it to Atlanta and back. in two days with baffles in .Thats about 300 miles each way. It does give it some backpressure
