Everyone has there own tastes and opinion of what is better and what is over done. Do you think that any of these don't belong in certain eras or is it anything goes? Give us your two cents and let's see some some photos.

It depends completely on the specific car.....There are cars that pull off all 3 at the same time, there are cars that shouldn't even have primer on them yet, but are sporting any combination of them.....

    Kinda hard to answer.

It only matters what you think you build your car the way you want it to look!

I like the "less is more" technique..So many are way overdone, especially scallops and pinstriping.

The thing i like most is traditional flames and subtle pinstriping, the type that when you are looking for it,you notice all the other small modifications the owner has done, that would otherwise go unoticed with a screaming paint job.
    Just my 2 shillings worth.

Striping is great unless in excess.
Flames are fabulous except in excess.
Scallops are custom except in excess.

It's a matter of personal taste. More important is that they're done well. Well...in the case of flames...those would be "well done".

I like them all when they are done tastefully, as in not all on the SAME car, and fit the overall build of the car. I did scallops, and a few stripes on my car.

Oh I'd say Pinstriped flames. Never overdone, and never out of style. Scallops are for Airplanes. Bitchin' in their own arena

  24. Hot rods and customs are about whatever turns you on. Of course flames and striping never go out of my head.

I love when women get naked too.

It's striping. Stripping is the process of removing something,i.e. clothing, paint, parts, etc.

For me, flames put the Hot in Hotrod. Been doing them for 40 years now starting with my cousins 58 Impala ragtop. Finishing one up now that has drug out longer than any I've done. Need to tweak a few licks yet, but if the California Kidd was overdone, mine will be too.......

  28. If I could stripe myself, I'd have everything in my garage done up. But on cars...I like the less is more approach. It depends on the build though. IF you want a over-the-top 60's era show car? or a low key 30-40 homebuilt style hot rod. I went to an upholstery shop one time to look at fabric.....I found this ugly rainbow colored design velour and I asked "who the hell buys this shit" His response....There's an ass for every seat"

Each to his own I guess... I think less is better on pin stripes. I'm real finicky about flames, either they're done just right or the suck ass IMO. Scallops, well, on anything built before the 80's they're not bad. But then again the 80's basicly sucked for everything, even gave aluminum a bad rap!:p Oh, you can't leave out the "splash" jobs! HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA,:D WTF???
