Met Norm Grabowski there. Really swell guy. We talked for quite a while about what I was working on and he gave me some really good tips and other things I'll take through life.
Travis,I didn't know you were puttin your car in the show.I'm suprised you drove it there, looks nice!!!
Good show! I went Friday night and meet Dennis Gage AND Gene Winfield!!! Gene actually talked with me for about 10-15 minutes giving me pointers and tips on how to correctly chop a 39 Ford truck, that I'm getting ready to do for some one! Gene is the BOMB!!!! Dennis Gage is a cool guy too and was signing autographs for free. Forgot my new camera thou
Thanks guys. Saving our bucks to go to the swap meet in a couple weeks. Could'nt do both. Looks like a good time tho. Nice to see YBLOCK292 's shoebox and Reeds Toad. Thanks again.
Yeah Gene is definitely one kool kat. He was kind enough to autograph a t shirt for me. i was pretty stoked on that. can't wear that shirt now haha.
I took a bunch, put up almost 300 on my site, but here are a handfull. I really need to figure out the lighting in that place, I have not been a fan of my pics from the south hall since I got this camera.
Very kool to hang out with ya guys....... The highlight of the weekend was talking to friends that I hadn't seen since in a while. Like all shows the cars are secondary. I had a great time lot of kool guys at the show. I thought that the show was the best one that he has had for years. Good mix of rides and a lot of new stuff. It was worth it to see the Black Roadster Pickup and Bones 1937 Packard rag top... Pictures of the Black P/U don't do it justice. Kan't wait to see it on the street. One of these days I'd like to meet ya. Very kool pics!! You need to teach Two tall Okie how to use his Camera. LOL!!! Thanks for taking the picture of my flyer. Did you take it because I miss spelled Museum? Don't show Roger, I thought that I was getting better. Ha,ha,ha,... Happy Trails, Mick
I was disappointed. I thought it was BS that someone with the stature of Gene Winfield has to have the Malibu abomination right next to his booth! WTF?! He should have had a cl*** TRADITIONAL vehicle next to him. Not only that but I saw him using the top of a flipper top waste can as his lunch table. Can't Starbird give these 'legends' a meal voucher to the really nice restaurant in the HYATT that is connected?! (Maybe he does and mr. Winfield was just getting a quick snack) Or at least something other that a ****ty hot dog on a trash can? I damn near went out to bring him a decent bag of grub but thought to myself that maybe he didn't want any prefferential treatment from anyone. Norm does a sweet BB King. Starbird gave an award to his own grandson on an unfinished truck. There was only 3 Texas Bikini Harlots. You had to have a full cavity search to re-enter the building depending on which door you used. We had to beg to get them to announce our pinstripe events on the PA & most of the time it didn't happen anyway. Sorry for the rant...Gimme Salina anyday!
I actually didn't even notice the misspelling! I was looking all over for familiar faces, just didn't see any. I'll have to change my avatar to a pic of my ugly mug so folk know who I am. I will be hitting the WoW show in KC Feb 13-14, maybe just the 14th, the theater that I work at has Kris Kristofferson in concert on the 13th. I also plan on hitting the Tulsa Starbird show the following weekend.
I was surprised that there wasn't a line to meet Mr. Winfield. I mean come on, it's Gene, Fu*****, Winfield the legend. I bet most of those people were like, "who's this old guy and why does he have a booth." It was an honored to shake that man's hand.
