    That is Hoyt in the car. He was killed in 1955, sprint race in Oklahoma.

    Cool pic. I actually do not have this pic.
    I have the silk embroidered uniform from this year but no pics.
    The guy second from the right is my Grandfather.
    The guy second from the left is "Doc" Morris.
    Do you know of any more pics from the early 50's of Indy cars?
    I only have a few of grandpa's cars. Thanks again for the great pic.

    My Dad told me Hoyt was killed in a race car but didn't really know any details.

    Here are a few pics of one of a car my Grandpa built in the late 40's I am not sure but I think Dad told me the track was in southern Ill. A guy by the name of Gene Alldredge from Princeton In. drove the car for Grandpa.
    I posted this in the cageless midget thread but somebody there said its a sprint car. Grandpa started building midgets then sprints then champ cars. All way before my time.

    Doesn't matter one bit.. This was the Golden ere, and women and kids were escorted out.. EVEN IF THEY OWNED THE CAR! :p

    Buildy, I'm working on the research for the KK2000 we just brought in.. I have it back to 54-55 for sure, but have a hunch about 53 back to 48.. :)

    KK2000 was a beautiful machine.

    If you need info on the Kurtis Kraft, author Gordon White is the guy to go to.

    He knows what serial no was what car,etc.

    Car number 28 didn't have a driver listed the #33 was driven by Harold Paust. I mailed the program copy in Danbury today 1/10 of a mile from the track the car ran on in 1937. Like many old tracks it is now covered with a shopping mall. The start finish line in in the center of Macy's department store. Sort of ironic, since Jerry Macy Willetts who lived here in town raced Midgets there in the 1930-1950's. :)

    Does anybody have any info about a Bill Lindau,from Pittsburgh,Pa. He claimed to me to have run in the Indy 500 in 1929,and later had a career is supermodified racing at Oswego and Sandusky into the mid 1960's. He had an old Indy picture, and the statistics do list him as a finisher in 1929.Since I am from Pittsburgh, and am an open wheeler myself,I would like to learn more about him. John S.

    I don`t know anything about Bill Lindau,but if he was very young when qualifying at Indy in 1929,that he could have still been racing in the 60s.

    Len Duncan started racing in the late 20s or very early 30s and Len ran as late as the early 1980s! Aren`t many with the longevity of the one and Only Len Duncan,though.

    One amazing driver that I can think of is Stock car driver Hershel McGriff who started racing early in the 50s or maybe late 40s, and was going to compete in Winston west well into his 80s recently.

    Went to a racing show at York Fairgrounds Sat and found some old photos for 30 cents each.

    Mlight9 and I were talking about the new restoration of the Vargo Stretched Midget sprinter early in the show.
    Later in the day I found this one.
    Tommy Hinnershitz and??? walking-Vargo #5 in pit as the other cars run a heat race. I presume-Photo says 1963 Williams Grove USAC Sprint ARDC Midget show on the back.

    Haven't found much but he also ran a couple of times on the boardtracks. Supermodifieds must have seemed pretty tame after that.
