wow must be something in the air. I was making great progress yesterday on patching the numerous holes in my A's firewall when my welder went kaput. didn't get to finish :(

you ever wonder why someone would drill or torch all those holes? Mine has been like mystery to solve.I have figured out (it seems easier to picture it all when paint gets stripped) that my 30 was badly rodded years ago with a huge gm type gas pedal, a swing pedal/firewall mount master cylinder. Probably an auto. But I think this body is on a 29 frame. Maybe the butchered the original like they did the firewall :)

I was just thinking about that yesterday. What the hell could all these holes possibly have been drilled for that isn't on my truck now? I can't imagine.

Last weekend i cut up a 40 ft ladder i couldnt use. It was given to me and was to long to use. So now i have a 7ft step ladder and a 24ft ladder. 12ft when not stretched out. Works great except im working out some bugs on the step ladder. The folding brackets i made wont let the ladder fold up all the way. Bolts hit the ladder when it folds up.

  12. Bought my first TIG machine - a Miller Diversion 165. Fixed up the flimsy weld cart first and started turning s**** into really s****. This is gonna take a while to get even reasonably proficient. I want to TIG in the roll cage of my Austin, build headers.

I'm getting the hang of straight lines, but AROUND tubes is a real *****.

I hear ya. Seems like every hole is either across one of the beads or one of the contour lines. Mine was sliced vertically in two places and then smashed back to make room for something. My favorite is the two hole-saw mods. I'm thinking about leaving those...

Went on a road trip. My son was on his way back from Detroit, Mi. last night when his car broke down on him in Ann Arbor. So he call this morning and say's AAA won't tow it over 5 miles, WTF. After calling them (AAA) I told him to sit tight that I would hook up the trailer and come get it my self. Left Indy at 10:30am and got to Ann Arbor about 2:00 in the after noon looked at the car, found the water pump went bad loaded it up and headed back to Indy, Got home at 8:00 pm. What a good day.

I figured/fabbed up the bed mounts on the truck, so it's bolted down for the first time.
This bed is a stude that's been shortened, narrowed, custom front panel, chevy rear stake pockets that have been pie cut from top to bottom and tops rounded, front pockets taken off and repaired, bed floor support made/raised,bed sides raidiused for tires with hammer formed lips.
    It's getting there.......

Put brakes on my brother-in-laws Toyota 4-runner, then installed the stereo in his Land Cruiser, watched Burt Reynolds in White Lightning on TCM, went to look at a '63 impala (4dr 6cyl, 3 on tree) and a '65 comet (NO FLOORS!). Put more oil in my truck, and re-organized my tool chest. WOW, that looks impressive, I thought I just drank beer all weekend...

Trying to finish the rust repairs in the wheelwell to get this quarter put back together.

One other area we saw some noticeable rot in was the stiffener brace along the window opening.

As this will also help to strengthen the quarter across where we plan on welding it together, this is another candidate for repair. Here's the newly formed replacement.

Here it is test fit into place.

Where the window divider was not in bad shape, the need to remove it did damage the flanges (which were spot welded) considerably. The close reverse bends required the use of both the gooseneck upper die, and a narrow lower.
