Anyone know what they are? I'm not good at this kind of thing but I've narrowed them down to either 50-53 Olds or 50 Caddy Sombrero. Cheers guys.

Ok I may have made this all up but I thought that I read in Kustoms Illustrated that
it was an aftermarket hub cap that was a Caddy look-a-like. If they were a Sombrero
you would not have as much of a red rim showing. True? / false? I'll double check it
    when I get home tonight.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

If you are refering to the article in the issue with Jeffsled's orange merc on the cover it doesn't say. All he says is that he plans on changing them

Seems to me that real Cadillac Sombreros have more depth -- I think they're aftermarket. AND I could be mistaken.

You just called Jeff's Merc Orange!!!!... I hope for you he will not read this post!

The hubcaps on Brad's car look aftermarket Sombrero's to me. The shape of the dish is different than a real Caddy Hubcap. But I have no idea what the size is.

Brads on the left and a real Caddy Hubcap (Hirohata Merc photo by Megan) on the right...

No offense intended. I have never seen the car in person and most of the pictures I have seen it appears to me to be towards the orange end of the red spectrum. I love the color and it might just be me or the pictures I have seen but I have never really thought of it as red.

I was just kidding.... But it seems that Jeff is rather sensitive about how the (temporarily) color of his car is called, judging from previous posts and what he told me in Sacramento.

caddy deep dish. there's two styles (and they come in chrome or stainless) the deep dish style in the pic and a shallower version of the same. deep dish are center clip and require a pretty large center opening to install, the shallower version are rim clip and will fit most any 15 wheel. I say most from expereince--a chevrolet rally wheel will sling them all day long--I know from experience.

as an ***ide I also know that a 94 saturn station wagon wheel will sling 3 of 4 salt flat discs within just a few hours.

Thanks for your help guys. Falconsprint63 - thanks for the heads up. I've been told that - that the Caddy caps are deep and might not fit my unilug repro Vintiques...at least I know to look out for rim mount rather than centre install.

Yes, there are chromed versions as well as stainless. But I've never heard that of any the mentioned Cadillac Sombreros (produced between 1948-52) came with different level of depth. The more swallow ones are vintage aftermarket items (for instance are some models made by the company Calvenar). They are made to look like Cadillac wheelcovers but are able to be used for other cars with less deep wheels and without the Cadillac way of "center attachment". If I'm wrong, and anyone with can show proof of a Cad Sombrero, made by Cadillac (not aftermarket), with less depht, then I'll stand corrected!

I have aftermarket sombrero hub caps from mcveys cad parts. they are the deep style polished stainless ones.

we cut out the center mount and welded on rim clips. I have to struggle to get them of now.

The one that fit a standard 15" rim (the left one in rikster´s pictures) is Cadillac "serie 62" and the one in front are deeper then the one in the back, I hade them on my ´51 chevy.
That´s what I was told when I bought them.
