Art & Inspiration Hotrod paint progress for my '31 "The Roadtoad"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, Jan 18, 2010.

  1. I was bored today at work,so I decided to do some "poormans photoshop" work. I originally was gonna go with light green and dark green, but have changed my mind. Now it will be dark green and black. The first drawing is what it will look like. It's actually darker than that, but that's how it copied. The others are just for fun...

  2. Then I took out my pocket knife and chopped it,made a copy and colored a few.

  3. Not bad Bob! If you go with a non-metallic solid color for the green you the yellow. Kind of like those pale colors used on the early 50's on Chevrolets.

Good choice, I like that one the best.

  5. The color is Hunter Green. I already painted the grill. Couldn't finish cause it started raining on me.

Dark green and black will look real nice.Think I'd go for dark maroon and black myself.

Just noticed that you chopped the top on the bottom 2 pic's. Look alot better. That car is gonna look sweet!

  8. I didn't want just another black Coupe, cause mine won't be nice enough to warrant a shiney paint job. It's NO Casny Coupe, haha!

  9. One color, one color!!!!!!!!!!!! No two tone :)

  10. Well,it's real easy to chop a drawing. Mine won't be chopped, cause it's channeled too much. I don't want to sit on the floor.

  11. Nope. It will be two-toned. I want it to look like I just pulled the body off a stocker...You'll like it when you see it.

I agree... Have you thought about brown? I know it doesn't sound fun but your car looked pretty good unpainted and it was pretty much a brown color.

I don't recall seeing a stocker that was two tone. The body is one color and the fenders are black. Or am I completely off base?

  16. Remember TetanusShot's, "Smurph Coupe"? Loved his car. I want something different...

I'd go with some of the Crayola ideas you've started with. Heck, it's not been done before! Maybe Burnt Umber, Goldenrod or Sienna :D

I know... haha... I'm not saying it should be unpainted... just maybe consider brown. There are some good looking brown coupes (not just A's).

  22. That would take ALOT of colored pencils, haha!!!!

  23. Here- this took a lot of "photoshop pencils". Just kidding... but found your pic on the other post.

You might think about using the black as the bottom with the lighter color as the top color.

I like the dark top 2 tone.....but how bout a silver (slight Blig) or grey (more traditional), then pinstripe with the color of choice.

I have to say that I am liking the two tone. That brown Corsairs Coupe looks BITCHEN in person.

Is that the Bad Bob sled in the background?

3" Chop, Washington blue paint on body, and an even darker blue belt line or you could go with black. Red engine, black steelies (as you have), black ceramic coated ram horns, highly polished valve covers.
