I'm going this year, the first time since 2003 when the great David Jeffries died.I hope to do a bit of crewing again this year for a local rider Paul Owen. Its something to behold, the speed on normal roads is beyond belief! Nick.
That's another race I'd like to see some day. If you had a hot rod with trailer (caravan) in tow would you be out of place? Gary
Gary, I reckon the bikers would love to see a Hot Rod on the roads of the Isle of Mann.Theres a small Hot Rod and Custom club on the island they'd be more than happy to see I think, I want to take my ''A'' on day(When its done that is!) Nick.
Perhaps next year then? I have to plan well ahead. I've always wanted to tour your islands and Europe in a hot rod. Gary
Gary, If you do decide to visit the Isle of Mann, let me know first it would be great to meet up.I think next year might just be on the cards to take my Hot Rod to the island(Hopefully!) Nick.
Thats at the Macau GP. The guy did that lap after lap. P.S. It Isle of Man. One N. Think***** Mann, Isle of Man.
I've always liked the side-car racers. Saw two guys killed once when they broke and another team ran into them. Those guys are a different breed, for sure!!! Sure would like to see it in person some day. They show the 2009 event on HD Cable all the time.
No lts with two N's as in Mann, they only of late droped the second N. Nick. Found this we're both sorta right! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Man
I recorded a bunch of races this summer/fall.Guy Martin is my hero!Hard bloke to understand tho,my dream vacation would be a week there!
I have cable ... it's on Discovery HD Theater every Monday night ... great stuff ... I watch it religiously ... but I don't really understand why we're discussing it on the HAMB ... ???
they can make a car safe enough to hit a wall at 200 and walk away from, but what can they do to a bike. few people are what all 2 wheel racers are.
The Isle of Mann TT is one of my bucket list items. Those guys need wheel barrels to carry their balls around in ! ! !
and it's even more awe inspiring on board... My favorite was Joey Dunlop... Bad****.... and I raced bikes for a long time, but there is a certain pucker factor to the Isle of Man. O/T as it is... I love it.
Just watched the Macau GP on the t.v. I now can't wait for May!Yes this is O.T., but as COOl as*****!Anybody thinking of going to watch the TT should go, it sorta gets to you. Nick.
Its always been one of my dream vacations and we went in 2008 for the Manx GP. It overwhelmed every expectation! It was so awesome that I proposed to my now wife at the Ramsey Sprint (Drags) watching a Norton Manx blast down the strip. It is truly unbelievable until you see it firsthand. (....also make sure you clear your wallet of all Manx currency before leaving there. We found out the hard way that once off the island, you will find a truly difficult time spending it....)
Only one N in Man, I went there as a teenager, it is etched forever in my brain. The sidecar racing was the****s.
Firedome, MY brother in law got married in the Isle of Man/Mann, I was his bestman and had to ride my Suzuki down Douglas promanade in a damn Kilt.I sat on mine to makes sure my valuables were safe!!! Nick.
Nads, Sometimes its two, I found some info on Wikipedia.Depends on when you use the word Man/Mann. I marshalled at Rhencullen and you could almost touch the rider or passenger as they passed by at speed. As you say one heck of a sight! Nick.
We went over for TT week about 20 years ago, Joey racing (we also saw him and the family in some kind of car at the local shops where we were staying, top bloke that) and a couple of Kiwi's racing that year, awsome event, if you are only even a little into bikes and get a chance you should go, there was so much on from vintage trials up in the hills to motorcross on a track they dug out of the beach..... even meet the locals (and very nice she was too) the line up on the prom is too much, its not just the odd rare cool bike there are heaps and heaps.
